Maybe the engine count has something to do with hiring Heidfeld? That might have already been said i havent read any of the comments or news stories on the subject to be honest :hehe:

Yes! Nobody has thought about this.......
Technically, Heidfeld can run new engines without penalties... and yet, he can claim points for the WCC.

There you go Bud. Another example for when the team sacrifice a driver for the benefit of the team ;)

Are you sure?
I think that when one says "each driver has 8 engines" it actually refers to the driver number; in that case, there would be no difference between De la Rosa and Heidfeld.

It wouldn't make too much sense otherwise.

yeah i assume thats the case but immortal dragon raises the doubt i had, technically Heidfeld is taking over the car and race number so will he have to suffer the same fate?

and im sure Pedro is happy about it :hehe:

Luckily for Sauber, his pout won't be seen on the podium ceremony :)

The engine situation after Korea

Barrichello, engine 7, 2 races
Kubica, engine 7, 2 races
Petrov, engine 7, 2 races

Yamamoto, engine 7, 4 races
Senna, engine 7, 4 races

Webber, engine 8, 1 race

Vettel, engine 8, 2 races
Button, engine 8, 2 races
Hamilton, engine 8, 2 races
Schumacher, engine 8, 2 races
Rosberg, engine 8, 2 races
Hulkenberg, engine 8, 2 races
Sutil, engine 8, 2 races
Liuzzi, engine 8, 2 races
Buemi, engine 8, 2 races
Alguersuari, engine 8, 2 races
Trulli, engine 8, 2 races
Kovalainen, engine 8, 2 races
Kobayashi, engine 8, 2 races
Glock, engine 8, 2 races
Di Grassi, engine 8, 2 races

Alonso engine 8, 4 races

Massa, engine 9, 3 races
Heidfeld, engine 9, 5 races

Sauber have been kvetching about their Ferrari engines but that must be one tough lump now in Quick Nick's car. PDR already had put two races on number 9 before Heidfeld took his seat. I wonder where they have his rev limiter set.

9k and falling? :P

...9k and falling? :P

Nick admits Kobayashi has more top speed than he and lays it off to his having "older" engines. He didn't further elaborate whether that meant they were down on compression or they'd had their rev limited dialed down.

Alonso will be using his almost-new engine from Bahrain at Abu Dhabi. It was removed for overheating concerns and reportedly is very low mileage.

We've had the discussion in another thread about re-using engines once removed. I can't find chapter and verse in the TR but apparently Alonso was forbidden from reusing this engine until the final race of the season. So if he can survive Brazil without the present engine letting go, he should be golden for the season closer.

Are you sure he will be? Every team hasn't used their Bahrain engine again at any other track. I assume its due to the amount of sand in the air there which is not good for the internals of an engine at all.

I think fred means the engine that Ferrari changed just before the race in Bahrain.

Golden (Assuming his engine doesn't overheat)

Alonso can use low-mileage engine in Abu Dhabi
#222973
Ok, somebody explain this to me:

The rules prevented Ferrari from re-deploying this engine for anything other than free practice sessions, after it was replaced in Bahrain as a precaution due to the F60 almost overheating. But because Abu Dhabi is the season finale, Alonso is allowed to use any engine in his allocation there, and the Bahrain qualifying unit is extremely low on mileage.

The first rule about preventing: which rule is that?
And then: since it's the season finale - huh? Different rules for the last race?
