I've tried converting my family to Formula One and my brother has interest in it, but not necessarily follows it, but he'll watch the odd race and he has some of his friends slightly interested in it as well.

I have a friend who I talk to once in a while, I spoke to him once Webber went off and gloated about Vettel winning the title (famous last words :( ). He appears to be a recent fan like me - but I'm not sure if he's a freak like I am. I know a bit about the history....

And then I have one guy who works in the Melbourne Office who I chat to on MSN about it. And my colleagues who sit around me are regularly informed, mostly by asking me, but they also watch the news and try and watch replays. I think it's their way of working out what mood I'll be in. (i.e. extremely pissed today)

So I have a nice mix, but yeah - I did originally join this site because Forums are the greatest way of chatting with people who also share a similar passion to you. And I'm surprised I've been here for so long because usually I lose interest in most things. I used to post on a few soccer forums but quickly lost interest.

IF it weren't for this I'd have really no place to vent and live life everyday as a GP Fan.

BTW - a thought suddenly clicked in my mind. I told everyone I was leaving this site after Spa 2008 after the Lewis/Kimi/Massa incident. And then the very next race I became a fan again after a young German won at Monza...

I had a friend who has no moved away but all we talked about in science was about cars and F1 it was great! He was also a Ferrari fan so things could get pretty intense what with the Ferrari vs McLaren conflict. It is one of the only conversation topics of which I don't get bored about. Now he's gone I have to endure countless hours of guys droning on a bout Football.

A couple of years ago my gran (in her 80s) asked me what I was doing over the hollidays, when I told her I was going to Silverstone for the formula 1 she replied 'oooh is that with that Michael Shoemaker'.

There's quite a few people I work with who follow it a bit though I doubt any of them would watch a full race but I have one mate who's into it and spends most race weekends here.

My friend says he likes it but is very peticular about everything and says that they don't look half as fast on the tv as supposed to real life so there is no point of watching it. I don't really see the logic but he has a point.

Some of that's down to the camera work and direction imo, too many close ups and tracking the cars to get the appearance of the speed. There was one race recently with great camera work, possibly Suzuka.

And as well they are filming from behind the saftey barriers because the cameras have hardly any amount of depth of field perspective.

I wish I had someone! My friends and family would gladly hire someone at this point, I'm sure

Gosh, your situation is same as mine and for me,with girls,we dont really talk about sports but when i am talking with my guy friends our conversation ends with something about football or online war games.I dont understand how can people like soccer more than f1!!Even my dad who is one of the people made me an f1 fan is not interested too much in f1 he always prefers soccer. So i talk in this forum and to myself,i think about races and make speculations then think about its possibilities lol :hehe:

My wife shows a SLIGHT interest from time to time. Enough to have some talk about it... as soon as i give her any "interesting details" she yadda yadda's me.......... and redirects me to the forum

I have several F1 following friends. Some live in another city, but from time to time we have some interesting chats.......
