Since some brought up Rosberg into the discussion, I think it's only fair to hear what he has to say about his performance this season.

Nico Rosberg has hit out at the constant media spotlight on the performances of his Mercedes Grand Prix team-mate and compatriot Michael Schumacher in F1 2010, arguing that his own strong form this season has been overlooked as a result of it.

In the all-Teutonic internecine duel at the Brackley-based outfit this year, it is Rosberg who comfortably holds the upper hand, out-qualifying Schumacher 13 times to just three thus far and outscoring the illustrious multiple F1 World Champion by a commanding 122 points to 54.

However, with all the focus having centred upon the sheer disappointment of the latter's comeback to competition in 2010 following a three-year 'retirement' hiatus, Rosberg contends that he is not receiving due credit for what he has accomplished – and claims that he has encountered just as many difficulties as his countryman in trying to adapt to the new, narrower Bridgestone front tyres this season and the distinct characteristics of the Mercedes MGP W01, the two key elements that have been pinpointed as the major causes behind Schumacher's struggles.

“I don't think my performance is well-enough recognised,” the 25-year-old told German weekly Sport Bild, adding that his own more recent experience compared to that of 'Schumi' 'hasn't advantaged me because it's mainly been with grooved tyres, and the current front tyre is different from anything else before it'. “[The situation] is the same for me. Actually, I think Michael has been able to adapt his driving style better than I have. Michael has 15 years of experience in F1.”

Mercedes-Benz Motorsport Vice-President Norbert Haug, however, has sought to reassure his young protégé that his efforts and achievements are held in very high regard by his team.

“I think it's absolutely obvious that Nico has so far extracted what was possible from the car,” the German underlined. “Only on a very few occasions was this not the case. I think he learned a lot with Williams, and if you would name one of the top guys that are currently young and experienced in F1 you would certainly mention Nico. He is a very good benchmark for probably everybody in the field.”

I thought it didn't matter to the drivers what the media said? I would pretty confidently say those who matter recognise his performances, and this is reinforced by Haug's quote there. That article reminds me of why Rosberg annoys me...

The thing is, it DOES matter what the media says, and Rosberg can only benefit by bringing attention to his good campaign. Some great drivers went as far as failing to have a seat because people didn't talk enough about them.

^ Kubica being the best driver of the season is an opinion, you realise that right? Do you realise that? Have you experienced the realisation that Kubica being the best driver of 2010 is an opinion?

Sorry i had to say that three times, but i got the impression from your post that you seemed to believe that it was the truth, and nothing but the truth, rather then a number of peoples opinion. And therein lies the answer to your question in your own post. Just because you believe it to be the case does not mean that someone else (me) not believing it to be the case should be slated cause i dont agree. As for nish's response below, im still debating whether to reply to such a poor attempt at a humourous post. Did i not already say my drivers of the season were Webber,Koba and Button nish? of which one is a driver i actually support (Kobayashi), you might aswell become a fan of Hamilton for how much he seems to be on your mind.

It's in two parts it doesn't let us debate the question posed before stuffing an answer into our mouth I don't think it's fair, that's all, all it had to say was I think Kubica, not it's not one of the 5 contenders.

Kubica has been a revelation this year imho, I think he is underated.
