whilst you characterize "team" stuff as "cheating" I characterize it as the essence of "team" and selflessness

Then surely you'd characterize individualism, drivers tactics and the absence of puppeteering in other teams as their essence and leave it at that instead of questioning the actions and assuming something insidious must be going on.

I'm sorry, when did I say something insidious is going on?

As subtle as Glenn Beck.

I take it that is as close as you can get to apologizing for accusing me of something I didn't say.

I don't know if team orders are being issued at McLaren and Red Bull. Both team principles still say that they are letting there drivers race each other but surely the only one to gain advantage in this situation is Alonso.

Most people have caught on by now that your arguments don't apply to you. Given the fact that when your own logic is used to highlight your obstinacy. (on this and most every topic) You fixate on the word insidious?.... I tend to choose my words carefully.

... insidiously.

It seems Jenson won't leave qualifying and tyre choice from Susuka go .....

On his own website, Jenson cast more doubt on who was calling the shots on his car setup during qualifying.

He stated:-
"I think I could have extracted a bit more from the car if I'd been fuelled for just a single lap in Q3."
And of course he would have had the option and the time to do a second run on the option tyre!

He also stated:-
"I can understand why the team felt it was wiser to fuel for two laps, "
This is stating that it was the "teams" decision to fuel him so that he had to stay out doing extra laps and not have the time to come in a change to the softer tyre. As he then went on to mention, perhaps he could have then tried to "challenge Fernando".

Jenson " I preferred the feel of that tyre (the hard) but realistically I chose it thinking about the race" Note the use of the words I chose here.
With the monsoon conditions of sat washing the track, it was assumed the softs would be only good for a dozen laps. Thinking the hards would take longer to come in, Jenson was fuelled for 3 laps. As it transpired, the hards didnt have a second lap in them. Had they known this and fuelled him for 1 lap he'd have been close to hamilton. But hidsight is a wonderful thing. it isnt anything sinister.

hehe except... i dont even know what insidious means. :D

<EDIT> Did what any self-respecting internet user would...

in·sid·i·ous /ɪnˈsɪdiəs/ [in-sid-ee-uhs]
–adjective
1. intended to entrap or beguile: an insidious plan.
2. stealthily treacherous or deceitful: an insidious enemy.
3. operating or proceeding in an inconspicuous or seemingly harmless way but actually with grave effect: an insidious disease.

Hi racechick! I do note the words "I chose". I'm just not convinced. I guess I'm very much where you were when we were discussing Massa/Germany. You commented on the video of Massa saying it was his "decision" that he "had" to say that.

I do however completely accept that you believe what he is saying at face value. But, if we leave that point aside now, it is clear that Jenson felt he was kept out on his primes too long. And that was definitely the team's decision. He thought they should have brought him in when the others pitted. This is also what Horner and Arron** stated. Jenson was sacrificed and kept out in from of the Red Bulls to slow them down - which was great for Lewis, cause it kept him closer to them. but, in the end, compromised Jenson's race. As Jenson says on his website, it cost him his opportunity to challenge Fernando.

OK, slightly off the current chain of thought but i was just watching the Formula One .com race edit and i noticed that Lewis says on the radio "Jens is holding me up".

Sound to me like he was asking for some team orders. Its not that different to Fernando's "I am faster than Felipe".

Even over warbly race radio the names "Felipe" and "Jens" sound nothing a like.

Also, Fernando said 'this is ridiculous', i'm sure Lewis probably would have said something like... 'preposterous'.

I took the prerogative of sending all this off to Sounds-Labs, and they have confirmed that its "insidious". Even if Spanky didn't actually say it, they are absolutely sure that it suits to say that's what he meant :-)

I'm sorry but I'm just thinking of the right words to say
I know they don't sound the way I planned them to be...
