BBC Confirmed F1 is being filmd in HD this year

http://www.f1fanatic.co.uk/2010/03/03/f ... this-year/

The BBC has confirmed F1 is being filmed in HD this year.

But Formula One Management is not making the high definition feed available to broadcasters.

Danielle Nagler, the BBC’s head of HD, wrote on her blog today:

The events are being filmed in HD (as far as we know) but they are not made available by F1 to broadcasters in HD.

Earlier this year Lee McKenzie from BBC’s F1 team said HD would be offered to F1 broadcasters in 2011. It may be that FOM wishes to get a year’s experience of filming in HD under its belt before committing to a live feed in high definition.

Hopefully they will release the HD footage shot this year in some form, either via their website or perhaps the end-of-season video review.

Meanwhile, NASCAR is being broadcast in HD for the sixth year in 2010.

There you go guys.. you got it... sort of...
It is being filmed in HD... but its not being made available in HD... wtf

Don't despair, this is good. Means they can get the bugs out of the HD shooting equipment this year in time for finally taking the World Feed HD next year. Also means we might get a Season Review on Blu-Ray

I think the coverage we get in Canada is already in HD. Or am I misunderstanding your point?

It's not in HD, but watching it on a HD channel does help the definition somewhat.

I have a feed here in Belgium, 720P, and it looks clearer than on the 576P (yes PAL country...) feed of the same channel. Of course, no comparison to actual 720P or 1080i content :)

I'm suprised that not as many people have jumped on the HD bandwagon as people expected. I would love to watch things in HD but it's just so damn expensive and still isn't supported by most channels.

You kidding? HD is considered a roaring success by the industry. That's why they've gotten all big-headed and decided that people will actually pay for 3DTV, despite its cost being astronomical, and do so soon*

*In case you were wondering: No, people won't.

When all these 3D televisions came i out i was a bit skeptical, i was thinking that it was just a fad and it will wear out soon but after i actually watched a full rugby match in some 3D i was quite impressed.

Now i actually see myself buying one within the span of two years to replace my current full HD television.
