I think it's working the other way around, Mexico is invading Texas.

Lets hope the new USBP can turn that frown around :D . IMHO "shoot first and ask questions later". I'm frickin fedup with the illegals here as I see atleast 10/week in court for aggravated robbery or assault who have an ICE hold on them. I do not expect anyone who is not an american and living here in the US to fully understand or have a viable biatch about our situation.

As for America ,no expert by a long shot, but I guess the key is sovereignty (states can't just withdraw from Federal Government) and the fact that the people still have a united view of themselves as a country (USA).

Texas still has the right to secede from the idiots governing our nation  .

Really? And the decision would be purely in the hands of Texas?

Interestingly enough statistics show that illegal immigration is down 8% this year since the previous years from 1978 to 2008.

According to the DHS fact sheet, "the number of apprehensions made by the Border Patrol declined for the third year in a row to 724,000 in 2008 after reaching a mid-decade peak of 1,189,000 in 2005."

The whole story is better reflected in the total estimated population of illegal immigrants in the United States. Using monthly Census data, the Center for Immigration Studies estimated that "the illegal population declined 13.7 percent (1.7 million) from a peak of 12.5 million in the summer of 2007 to 10.8 million in the first quarter of 2009." This is similar to DHS estimates, which also saw a downward trend from a peak of 11.8 million in 2007 to 10.8 million in 2009.

Cool, what are the requirements for that to happen?

I can only offer those two links for an explanation I hope they help.

The thing that most people pushing for secession forget it that they'd no longer be able to get Federal funding for all of the things that Texas gets federal funding for. In 2009 Texas state budget was 30% paid for by Federal Government funds.

Simply put if one does not live in Texas and especially the lower part how can one construct an informative opinion? I deal with this issue on a daily basis but others who do not and do not reside in Texas think they have all the answers via the press, whats up with that??

I know that's only an estimate, but feck, that's a LOT of people operating outside the system (as it were).

Yeah that's the problem, the preference would be to make them a part of the system, and document them, give them work permit and have them pay taxes back into the system... but immigration scare tactics and demonizing the next wave of immigrants (Germans, Poles, Italians, Irish, Jews, all immigrants all took the heat currently it's South Americans in general and Mexicans in particular) is always easier than actually solving a problem.

It is a huge issue that america is paying dearly for. The whole issue is the documentation so they (the immigrants) can pay taxes and contribute to the economy that they are illegally bleeding dry. If they love america so much why not contribute to our economy? :irked:

Don't be ridiculous! At the income level the illegals are operating, they already pay exactly the same amount of taxes as any legal immigrant or US citizen: nothing! On the contrary, they actually pay more via sales tax and fees, etc., but not being able to claim Earned Income Credit on their tax return (since they don't file), while American white trash gets money paid from the IRS due to that Earned Income Credit. Plus, the undocumented immigrants don't get as much out of their contributions to the economy since they are not eligible.
And why are they at such a low income level? Because those big farmers or hotels or affluent people who hire nannies and gardeners, etc., don't pay crap for wages, and thus, exploit those illegals. So, go after them instead of the immigrants! :banghead::rolleyes:
And besides, one doesn't have to love America (as you presume above) in order to try to eek out a better existence by subjecting themselves to poor but hard working conditions, no health insurance or other benefits while being constantly at risk of being jailed and/or deported. The modern form of slavery!
