I have always and still do question why people, er, question Raikkonen's motivation. Why?

Might not have been the right word, but something seemed to have been missing? I'm pretty convinced he's a clear level above Massa in terms of ability.

Last year for me was pretty ugly, maybe not having a competitive car compounded things, perhaps his personality may be conducive to interpreting things as such, and the fact that he simply seemed disillusioned in general, so I'm not sure why, file this under the "perception" category since it's difficult to directly quantify effort to results.

Me too. I always thought him highly motivated - to win. It was all the other :bs: that he had no time for.

He was maybe the best driver in the second half of the season, managed to win a race in that piece of poo of a Ferrari. If that's not motivated, I wonder what it takes?

We talk about it, but only Kimi can say for sure. His response would be; what we think of his motivation level does not interest him.

F1 : Formula 1 rumour - Felipe Massa to Sauber and Robert Kubica to Ferrari

Recently, a Spanish television station reported that, notwithstanding the existence of new contracts, Felipe Massa and Robert Kubica could be set to swap seats for 2011.

The Swiss publication Motorsport Aktuell is now reporting a similar rumour, whereby Massa would leave Ferrari at the end of the season to make room for Pole Kubica.

But the report said Brazilian Massa would be accommodated not by Renault but by Ferrari powered Sauber, where he drove as a rookie in 2002 and again in 2004-2005.

"Of course I read all the rumours," Kubica said in an interview with spox.com, "but in the end the only thing is winning."

"We are all here because we want to win and you need the best car for that. Currently I'm at Renault and so I am focused on this team and on improving together."

"In 2011 we want to fight for the world title. We'll see what happens next," the 25 year old added.

Kubica admitted that he would like to race for Ferrari one day.

"In karting, Formula Renault and F3, I've always been with Italian teams and I even lived for more than a year near Monza."

"Ferrari is a team unlike any other," he acknowledged. "The emotion and the history is unique. I think every driver would like to drive for Ferrari."

I love this bit from Kubica "I think every driver would like to drive for Ferrari." And he's not Robinson Crusoe with that thought :)

Just like Robinson Crusoe, I would have thought. Every No.1 driver at Ferrari gets his 'Man Friday' to meet his every whim...

Can someone please explain for what possible reason Massa would agree to this? My understanding is he's only agreed to be Alonso's doormat on the condition that next year he be given free reign to go for the title. Jumping ship to Sauber seems like a pretty stupid way of going for the Championship.

Wow I did not know that but I'm happy to hear it.

Probably for a similar reason Hekki is happier at Lotus, can Massa really handle the pressure of Alonso as a team mate? Although, he might be able to, he seemed pretty determined after Germany.

Of course, Ferrari could always be pressuring him to leave - and this way he's guaranteed a race seat. I still don't think it'll happen though, I'll see what (if anything) the bbc f1 coverage make of it.

Kubica's performance today probably ensured that this rumour stays a rumour; at least if Alonso has any say in who the No.2 driver is.

And no doubt he will.

It may end up not being so bad for Kubica and his career. Especially if Alonso wins the WDC this year. The man is poisonous.

Unless that's code for "we won't ask you to make way for Alonso again, but you'll still be No.2", I don't see Ferrari being on-board with this. Massa's talent doesn't match his ambitions, and Ferrari knows.

I think Massa/Renault would be a good match.

why would you say massa's talent dosn't match his ambition?? he was one point away from the WDC, are you crazy? he was out of a seat thanks to a horrific accident and came back in fighting, he came 2nd and out qualified Alonso in his first race back ? he lead the championship at one point, he basically won in germany and while he has had bad moments this year he is more than capable of fighting for a championship.

doesn't have the talent lol, please.

the last thing i would ever want to see is kubica at ferrari while alonso is there, it would if not ruin is career put it on hold for a few years i think renault is a very solid seat for him if not Mercedes. always rated kubica don't know why is only being talked about like this now and its a surprise hes been overlooked . i would like him at redbull

Im not sure Alonso would be able to walk all over Kubica. I think he'd meet his match. Can you see Kubica pulling over for his lordship? Lewis will always be my favourits but in the right car i think Kubica could be next best. But I think Massa`gets underated because he's nice. If things were equal at Ferari Massa wouldnt be that far back.
