Uh, who brought in the Mafia? And Bill Clinton?
Anyway, I just put in perspective Ron's claims of corruption in Italy - almost EVERY country has its form of corruption, so please refrain from broad slander of entire nations.

Says the man who lives in the state that in 2000 was fraught with voter fraud and totally corrupt in the way it handled it so that the Supreme Court had to jump in and hand the presidency to a totally corrupt corporate oil puppet with a pea-sized brain.

Spoken like a true Liberal and you quote the Liberal nonsense well.

But no F1 team works out of Florida, so I am not understanding your point?

You will find that Italy is the most corrupt country in civilized Europe. Having spent a lot of time there I have seen how easy it is to buy a cop. 200 fags gets you off any kind of traffic violation.

400 fags avoids your carnet from being stamped!

When coming into Britain, you wouldn’t even dare attempt to bribe a customs officer.

Yes I agree, there is corruption in all countries - but how many have organized crime listed as their most profitable business? And the broad slander was made by your favorite Liberal magazine - TIME.

Oh and keep it friendly boys!

Trust me, I have spent a lot of time in Italy as well and I agree with your observations. It is an overt corruption that involves many strata of the society.
In most other western countries the corruption is usually less public (until it gets discovered) and involves despicable characters in corporations and politics. So, if you take all the corrupt corporations together, I'm sure they are the most profitable business in almost every country.

I read in this weeks Time Magazine that the Mafia is the no.1 profitable business in Italy second to the National Power Company there. I don’t have the mag with me right now to quote, but it makes you think. Corruption in soaked deep into mechanisms of the Italian judiciary, political and sporting institutions.

We should not be surprised with anything that stinks coming from Marenello.

Every country is corrupt, where there is money there is corruption. Certain countries control most of the world's media therefore they are able to market themselves as hero's and their competition as villains.

Thats a nice excuse, but that is all it is and completly false.

I have read quotes from convicted umpalumpa offenders who say that all guys are perverts, the only difference is that they have not been caught.

You go and offer a British or German customs officer 400 fags not to stamp your Carnet De Passage and see how quickly it takes for you to be locked up!

EDIT: Why is the word beggining with S and and ending with X (with an e in the middle) censored. It is not a profanity!

As I said, I don't deny your little custom officer stories and I don't offer excuses for that at all. What I'm saying is that the invisible corruption in other countries is at least as bad as those small fish. And my point was to show you that your remark about Italy and Maranello/Ferrari based on your Time mag article is just out of context, a selective viewpoint and you shouldn't single out Italy in that way.

they are not stories

You can only keep the corruption invisible in a democratic and civilized society if it is minimal. When it is as rampant as it is in Italy, then keeping things quiet is impossible.

Go check out the scandal of their soccer leagues for a good example.

The Guardian

Britain is becoming a hotspot for corruption and bribery and the number of British companies affected by economic fraud in the past two years is almost twice the global average, according to a report released today by PricewaterhouseCoopers.
PwC's global economic crime survey, in which 302 UK companies were questioned, reveals corruption and bribery are the fastest-growing forms of economic crime in Britain.

British businesses are also naive about assessing risk, with only 17% believing they were "quite likely" or "very likely" to be subject to economic crime in the next two years. This is despite the fact that 48% of UK corporations suffered from some form of economic crime at some point in the past two years compared with 43% globally and 38% in western Europe.

By your simplistic arguments RD this should prove that McLaren are the one's lying...
