I think i heard that too! But they surely can't let one driver/car combo do all the testing. I'm sure i heard that there'll be a big tyre test right after Abu Dhabi at the track there. :scratchchin:

Further news on this:

Pirelli is expected to kick off its Formula One testing program before the 2010 calendar's August break is out.

The Italian marque recently began testing its new GP2 tires, and Germany's Auto Bild Motorsport believes Mugello will be the scene of the first F1 prototypes' debuts - fitted to Toyota's 2009 car, the TF109.

Mercedes reserve driver Nick Heidfeld is tipped to be in the cockpit, with a public announcement expected imminently.

Mugello will reportedly be the first of six dedicated Pirelli tire tests before Abu Dhabi, where in the days after the F1 season finale, the 12 teams will get their first taste of next year's rubber.

Four compounds will be supplied to the teams, with the target being a range of reliable, consistent tires.

"I do not think companies today can afford hundreds of millions of euros to make their tires faster," said Pirelli's F1 chief Paul Hembery.

And he added: "We want to stay (in F1) longer than three years."

So its Heidfeld to do the first set of tyre testing...
Maybe if they dont give him much telemetry data, there's not that much he can go tell Schumacher and his friends at Merc.

I do hope they bring back refuelling. MUCH more interesting like that, even Q was more interesting with the fuel load unknown... all these heavy carrs at the 1st stint has made the strategies even duller. The only really wild startegy was Webber's at Hungary, and Maybe Alonso at Monaco. Canada wasnt even about the strategy, but just all about how much the tires degraded........

that would certainly be a crafty move by the silver arrows, but that probaly wouldnt happen and is schumi going to listen heidfield? doubt it and also agree with the refuelling, because now when you get towards to the end, they're all turning theyre engine map down and gives not the best finishes (in some races), but the tyre degerdation in canada was a large part for the making the race better than it would have been (though it would have still be a good one)

If we had refuelling right now I think the standings would be a lot different. Qualifying wouldn't be that important then

Merc won't get any truly useful data out of it regardless because the car being used is completely different and very outdated now.
