There is no question that it was a poorly thought out move and deserving of the penalty that was issued. With that said, all of you who have hated the man for years on end who are saying he needs to retire, be drawn and quartered etc are being rather silly. We've seen moves like this before from many a desperate driver that went unpunished. This one was over the line and he was punished for it....but lets not rant and rave like this was some kind of horrid thing that is never seen in F1. It wasn't. And for the record, if Rubins had contacted the wall, it would have torn off both wheels and he would have slid to a stop past the pit lane.....we've seen far far worse crashes than that would have been with no injury to the driver. Still, it was a stupid move by Schuey and he was penalized heavily for it. End of. Move on.

action starts 1.54. the way it SHOULD be. absolutely spectacular, these are the two drivers I value the most and if they both weren't so competitive and aggressive, maybe this McLaren duo would've really worked as one of the best ever

This was the race and the part where Alonso challenged on the straights when I was watching the race with my mates, we all just fell silent. Mind you, I was no Lewis fan as Kimi was still in F1 but this was one race where we knew this guy has got some serious guts. Another race which got me utterly convinced he's multiple WDC material is his dice with Kimi in Spa during the dying laps when it started raining. I had to admit then as a Kimi fan, the iceman had finally melted.

That would have sucked almost as much as if an airplane had to make an emergency landing on the straight at that moment. Oh my god, and what if a school bus filled with children had found their way onto the track? Dear sweet baby Jesus lying in a manger, please let the school children escape the danger of the crazy german. His blocking attempt has turned all of these good people who have always loved him so into safety minded concerned citizens.

Pfft. Your mind was made up about Schuey years and years ago. Nothing new here. I don't cheer him to win, or even place well..but he can drive a car so calling for his retirement or worse is just silly. He got the penalty he deserved for making a heat of the moment decision that was too far over the line. He is the most winning driver in the sports history by a long ways, driving last years championship car....and can't get in the points. His frustration level is probably higher than yours when you saw lewis lose the championship lead. So, he did a stupid thing...and paid the price. Game. Set. Match...go home.

:drink: Cheers and welcome back.

Aeroplanes have never been known to land on the straight. Busses of school children never allowed on the track when the cars are racing, but cars do frequently leave the pits, about 30 times a race  Get a grip!!

I think there was a lot of history in this, Rubens wasn't going to let Schumacher chicken him out, he actually flicked his car to the left slighty towards the end of the straight and Shooey moved over pretty damn quickly. I've always admired the reactions f1 and cool f1 drivers have shown in these situations.

I think dealing and coming out on top of moves like this kinda shows the meaner cutting edge drivers, Rubens was able to do it against Schumacher but I'm not sure he has that edge consistently (when up against other drivers), look at how Hamilton and Alonso diced coming out of the pit lane in Canada - they both kept it clean but you could tell neither driver was preparing to push the brake peddle.

Kimi and Sutil I think last year? Showed with kimi moving over in the pit lane, but not tucking in behind.

With Alonso v Vettel at the start of Germany, I had the feeling watching it Vettel would loose out. I wonder what would've happened if the drivers were reversed in that situation.

knowing when to stop defending did make him a multiple world champion. You don't get that from yielding.

He didn't get those titles from not yielding. He got them from the boardroom, and from having his own personal test drivers named Rubens, Eddie, Johnny, Phillipe, Martin, Riccardo, Jos, and JJ. They could test during the races thereby circumventing the prohibition on testing at F1 venues.

Silly? for years I have watch him commit offense after offense, many as dangerous as this one, without punishment, while his team hands him points en large with subservient teammates and with treating the sport like a chess game creatively interpreting the rulebook or seeing what they can get away with then trying to win those points in a courtroom. Ferrari by this behaviour puts the sport in disrepute. some of this could be viewed as cheating. Rascasse parking, ramming Hill, ramming JV, parking damaged car on the racing line to force a restart, taking stop go penalty on the end of the last lap, after the finish line, repeated startline lunges straight into the opponent banking he will blink first, moving over more than once, closing the door too late, there are too many to list. Yet anytime MS is on the losing end of a battle or incident he whines and bi+ches like a little girl.
There's no way you can say what would have happened had RB touched the wall. Nice minimizing. Anything could have happened. It could have become entangled with MS's car. Anything. Something unspeakable. It's as likely as the benign scenario you propose. You don't know.
Had this been his first offense I would say, oh well, it was bad and he got his penalty. Lots of drivers commit offenses. sometimes they get penalized, sometimes not. They don't apply enforcement with any consistency.
But it wasn't his first offense and nobody does it like MS. I never favour any driver over another so I never really cared about it. Mostly I was amused by it. But it gradually gets worse and I have been pushed over my tipping point. With him still on the track the other drivers are in mortal danger.

Schumacher wrote on his website: "The manoeuvre against him was too hard.

"I didn't want to endanger him with my manoeuvre. If he had this feeling I am sorry, this was not my intention."

"Immediately after the race yesterday I was still in the heat of it all, but after I looked again at the situation with Rubens I have to say that the stewards were correct with their judgement."

Safety doesn't count when it's Schumi.

And that crazy idiot knew what he was doing, he's even looking right across at Rubens as he nearly piled into the wall, as someone stated earlier, thats the wall leading to the pit exit, what if someone was leaving at speed, Rubens was doing nearly 150mph, it doesn't bear thinking about. He's bloody lucky

Reminds me of Schumacher swerving into the side of Hakkinen at Spa 2000, and Hakkinen having to politely explain to him after the race the error of his ways, complete with hand gestures to illustrate the car movements.

Once again of course, the move backfired as Hakkinen got him on the next lap in that famous move around Zonta's BAR.

Schuey has always been prepared to step over the line and make dangerous moves.

The whole car in the pit lane thing isn't really as valid considering it was on one of the last laps of the race (63 of 70 or something like that?) when everyone had made their stops.
It was in the last 'phase' of the race where every driver knows that all the pitting bollocks has finished and they know they need to get a move on
