When they can simply just break the rules.

Telling them to hold station, is also breaking the rules.

Massa was ahead and lapping on equal terms. Saying Alonso was faster is ridiculous.

And mate if you're afraid of banging wheels then sorry go watch Rally. The risk of coming together is what makes a pass exciting.

Massa was not lapping on equal terms. Alonso cut the lead whenever he chose to push. It was obvious.

The risk of coming together is what makes the pass exciting. Sure, i agree. Now go tell that to the teams. LOL

Homeruns are always exciting. But batters are not always going for a homerun, because the chances of a strike out are higher and sometimes its not needed (therefore the risk not worth it) to win the game.

They wouldn't have had to issue that order since it was happening just fine all on it's own.

BTW, you do realize that you're trying to explain the nuances of Baseball to a mostly European audience?

See I get that, soy Cubano and la Republica Dominicana is the best feeder into the Majors but I just found your explanation funny.

Really? you sure Alonso didnt back off while the team figured what was going to happen, or what they thought was better to have less risk? He backed off temporarily to save risk to the team's result and his championship chances. The normal situation was push Massa and try to force a mistake, except with the teammate that's not the best for the team.

Order or no order he was going for it. There was no way he was going to keep holding til the end of the race. Everyone knows it.

Actually, I thought that's what was going on at first when Massa got out of the pits, after a few laps it was obvious it was just Massa having trouble with the tires.... i really thought Massa was going to go out of control and hit or Alonso ramming him from behind. Alonso backed, it was more likely to take pressure away from Massa and save them both the embarassment of taking eachother out.

I always knew he was a jerk. And I always had a feeling that Ferrari was/is dirty.
That is all.

Exact timeframe of this suitcase? I knew about Alonso from 2005 and Ferrari since I started watching F1 (1998)

I'm sorry but I don't quite understand your wording so I apologize if I am misinterpreting it. I have actually known that Alonso was a jerk before I liked F1. When I was a young girl (didn't care about F1, but happened to be watching), I was watching a race with my dad and we discussed Alonso's character. So yeah. I don't even know why I remember this conversation so vividly, but ever since then I haven't been a fan. I wasn't trying to sound pretentious or something.

My fault. I meant timeframe since you knew of his wretched personality. You interpreted correctly.

Ok! I distinctly remember him wearing blue and yellow, so he must have been with Renault, and I was around 10 years old, so it was probably around 2004 :)

Why didn't Ferrari just tell him to hold station? Which brings us back to the OP. Alonso would have thrown a hissy fit, spat out his dummy and driven Massa off the track. That's who he is and that's the truth about Fernando Alonso.

Let me get this straight. You are saying that Alonso and Ferrari are evil bar stewards for team orders that you believe told Massa to move out of the way...but you are saying it would have been better to have team orders telling Alonso to hold station?

Your true colors have just shown. You couldn't care less whether team orders exist or do not exist. You simply hate Alonso and don't like that he won the race. Hypocritical garbage.

I didn't offer an opinion either way on the rights or wrongs of team orders. I actually believe that the rule against team orders is unenforceable and should be scrapped as I've said elsewhere. This thread is about Fernando Alonso and I voiced my opinion of him. Ferrari had to get Alonso in front before he ruined their 1-2. No hypocrisy there but you obviously need it spelled out.

Alonso is incapable of putting the team first. Massa is the team player. Ferrari took the decision to order Massa to allow Alonso past to avoid a repeat of the Vettel/Webber fiasco. From a racing point of view I don't like it but I respect Ferrari's analysis of the situation and their solution.

By the way, hypocrisy means professing opinions contrary to one's actions. My opinion of Alonso is unfavourable and I've never indicated otherwise. Garbage, though, may be correct - but that's just your opinion...

New York mafia boss Don Gotti was referred to by the media as "The Teflon Don" because no charges brought against him stuck.
