Still, the s*** luck was there. If kubica diddn't break down they would've just swapped over. But no, Alonso had to get a damn penalty just after a safety car.

Sorry, that doesn't hold water. You're supposed to give the place back 2-3 corners after the unfair advantage. The penalty would still be applied.

Nah he was told over the radio just before Kubica came in to the pits to retire that he would have to let Kubica back through.

Although there were several problems in that anyways since Kubica was at that time 2-3 places behind Alonso meaning Alonso would have lost 2-3 places anyways.

Fact is as people have said he should have let Kubica back through instantly and tried again but Alonso did his usual arrogant self obsessed bullpoo he usually does and thought he could get away with what was clearly a illegal pass, its sad because his temper once again cost him points and if i was Ferrari i would stop blaming other people for what Alonso is doing and try to get his temper in check or no matter how much improvement they put on the car hes always going to mess it up.

Seems to me that if you take Kubica out of the equation his only offence was cutting the corner, and i thought you are allowed 3 cuts before a penalty is given.

Ah but he did gain a place through the cut.

Yes but he didnt gain any real advantage in relation to the other cars and with Kubica out, I think the drive throught was a little harsh.

Having said that, Fernando should probably have just given the place back straight away.

Well, he's being a real *** this season and he's getting handed what he deserves, so from my point of view it's all good so far.

Kubica was still behind Alonso albeit roughly 7 seconds i think. But in the case there was another car infront of the Kube, Alonso would still have had to let both cars back through. I remember i think it was Singapore last year where Webber had to let someone back through after since overtaking another car so he had to let two cars go ahead of him or be given a drive through.

The funny thing about it being harsh and i would agree it was slightly harsh but was the only real penalty that could have been given because of bad luck, but anyways last race Ferrari pretty much complained that the penalty for Lewis wasn't really harsh enough because he never lost a place and yet now they are being too harsh because it affects them.

You cant have it both ways just so it benefits you.

Simple fact is Alonso was just extremely unlucky in the last 2 races and that combined with his temper ruining his race performance has caused 2 very bad results.

I did think the penalty ended up being a little harsh, but had he given the place back immediately it wouldn't have been an issue.
What did surprise me though was why they chose to bring him in so soon after the safety car. He was always gonna drop to last place.

i think the whole 'former racer' stweards thing is going to backfire. As ussual there are always tough decisions to make, and the celeb guys should not be the guys involved in this stuff. They brought them in to inject some rationality to penalties, but instead, they are there only so that the cameras show their handsome mustache whenever a decision has been made. And to make matters worse, the penalties this yr have not been the most 'practical' ever.......

Dont think its fair to Damon or Mansell to get shown on camera after a weird turnabout of events. And neither to the fans.
#206588
why are you Alonso fans blaming Mansell? he is the advisor not the executioner there were still 3 race stewards who apply penalties not all of them British! And with Kubica out then the only logical penalty is a drive through. Get over it Alonso gained a place from cutting a corner and was rightfully punished. Im not British but i am tired of hearing of any excuses being made because of some British conspiracy! :banghead:

I'm saying they shouldnt be showing mansell on TV as if it was solely his decision to give way to this kinda thing.

i agree with that, they need to be careful when they show the "driver" at the stewards meetings. because if they keep doing it , it will become another reason to "discredit" the stewards
