I was making a F duct joke.








I thought it was turbos that didn't use air intakes over the head and that was why you didn't see them, the timing coincides. There were non turbos at the same time but I don't remember if they had them. Then when turbos were banned the air intake reappeared.

Interesting thought,though not strictly an F1 car as we know today,the fifties D Type Jaguar used a "sharkfin",now i,m not good at posting pictures but check online and you,ll see what i mean.

I wonder what its function is as there's no rear wing to direct airflow over. Maybe its for high speed stability.

Re "D" type,the fin gave stability but also enhanced its top speed,and two versions were made a lwb and swb,and they were fast,190/195MPH and all from a six cylinder 3.8!

^^ OH I love that period with the sides visible and intake trumpets all along there instead of an overhead scoop!
