General safety
With immediate effect, any car being driven unnecessarily slowly, erratically, or which is deemed potentially dangerous to other drivers, will be reported to the stewards. This will apply whether any such car is being driven on the track, the pit entry or the pit lane.

I read this as Schumacher in Montreal, anyway shouldn't this sort of rule have already been in place?

I thought it was. i thought you could be black flagged if you were causing a danger in the race.

Unlike the getting back to the pits without enough fuel at the end of a race, which was never a rule, only a five year old memo.

Black and white flags are used for dangerous driving most of the time. Although you barely ever see em, Malaysia was the only race it's been used in ages as far as i can remember! Black flags are really rare now i think, from memory the only times they've been used in recent years are when cars have left the pits when the red light has been on, ie when a safety car train is passing by.

As for the fuel in qualifying, they had to sort it out cause they set a weird and, really, stupid precedent for everyone in letting Hamilton off last time out. Wait, bending the rules, 'getting away with it', then the rule in question immediately being changed? It's happened oh so many times. :hehe:

107% Rule returns.

The FIA want to create and destroy new teams in a matter of months.

They MUST be run by Ferrari........

Why not offer some constructive (or at least reasoned) posts, seriously?

107% Rule returns.

The FIA want to create and destroy new teams in a matter of months.

They MUST be run by Ferrari........

Pole Time Vs Fastest Driver of New Teams

Bahrain - 104,1%
Australia - 104,7%
Malaysia - does not count because of the weather.
China - 103,2%
Spain - 104,0%
Monaco - 102,7%
Turkey - 103,1%
Canada - 103,1%

So it would only affect Hispaina, and they'd prob be ok now anyway.

I remember doing the math after Bahrain and it never seemed that it would be a big issue. Frankly, I think all of the complaints about slow cars had had more to do with the additional traffic and the potential to spoil a hot lap for a top running team than an actual safety issue.

I think the new teams are to be commended by getting as close as they have (% wise) with the limited testing rule in place.

It could affect the 13th team......

107% rule won't really be a problem because all the tracks have such long lap times these days. It'll only happen somewhere like Monaco or Singapore.

Back to the fuel. There was no rule about getting back to the pits with fuel, thats why they couldnt punish Hamilton, he'd not broken any rule. the only thing saying you cant do it was a memo, not a rule. So he didnt bend, break or get away with anything.
The rule is obviously coming in next year to rectify this.
Well thats my understanding of it anyway, i could be wrong.

Tyres
where Pirelli looking at balloon or low profiles?

The grid
why is it 107% and not 108% or 106%?

Driver adjustable bodywork
does that mean it only works for the 1st time a car is 1 second behind, or does it mean for every set point on the track?

Aerodynamic influence
no more f-duct

Weight
makes kers more attractive

Licences
Ho-Pin Tung. so who is he gonna replace? or will it be so he can do fridays for Renault?

I guess they would in exceptional circumstances, but that would take something crazy i guess.

Nah you are totally correct, it's just a ridiculous precedent to set. They have to stop every driver just stopping on track after qualifying cause that would be farcical. It's like all those crazy Schumacher incidents (ie for one, GB '98 where he pitted for a stop/go at the end of the last lap, enabling him to win :censored: ) that were technically not illegal, but still kinda out of the spirit of the sport. Obviously this fuel thing has nowhere near the same degree as that, but it's still in a similar vein).

The grid
why is it 107% and not 108% or 106%?

Probably just carried over from when it was previously used, i guess it just provides a sensible lap time goal for those at the back. Remember, at some tracks 1% lap time can be over a second.

Driver adjustable bodywork

It will only work when the following driver is within one second of his rival at a set point on track, most likely at the start of straights.

Yes. I can see why they need a rule. It amazes me how they cant think of rules beforehand. That Schumacher incident incensed me, i was at that race and was gobsmacked when they said he'd won.
I dont think it was anytjhing premeditated with lewis, he did an extra lap to what was planned. They wouldn't have broadcast it over the radio if they thought it was wrong.
