It's true that cooler fuel would have added only a tiny amount of power but if the size of the advantage gained by breaking a rule is the measurement the FIA is using to determine punishment, then why was Mclaren fined $100 million and stripped of the Manufacturers points for possessing Ferrari data that gave McLaren zero performance advantage? Ferrari made such a big stink over it that McLaren was stripped of the manufacturers championship, so I don't blame McLaren for making a big stink over this issue if it means that a Ferrari driver will lose the WDC. Kimi deserves a WDC but I'm afraid my distaste for the results of Stepneygate overrides my good will towards Kimi.

Lewis will become so unpopular if this was to happen, Mclaren should not of been competing so they should be thankful for what theyve got.

Couldnt agree more. It all stinks. Its odd how ferrari are not saying a thing about it all. They are usually so vocal.As i see it they won the constructors (by default) and the championship.Yes we should move on but it leaves a nasty taste in the mouth.Kimi drove a great race but we will never know how things may have panned out if everthing had been legal and above board.I think he deserves to know the truth althought with MM in the hot seat i dont think there will be a fair outcome and Ron will always have this slur hanging over his head.Nothing at all was proved beyond all doubt and i dont think RD had a fair hearing the last time.Ferrari should have taken some of the blame as it started in their camp but as per usual they came out smelling of roses.

the other drivers penalised for "fuel irregularities" were M Schumacher (benetton) and D Coulthard (willaiams) at the '95 Brazilian GP. they were both excluded, however, on appeal both drivers were re-instated but the teams were not. In that situation it would not help Hamilton.

However, the situation was that the equipment for measuring the samples was used incorrectly which is why they were allowed to keep the results and ther was no gain from the error.

The 10BHP difference would probably have gained them about 5 seconds over the race distance, however, the cooler fuel would have also gone quicker through the refualling equipment, saving more time in the pit-stops, so they could have gained 10-12 seconds over the race as the BWMs stopped three times, Hamilton would have been alot closer and maybe pushed a bit harder to get past...

Maybe... What if... Possibly... all terms which mean alot to the FIA if the McLaren trial is anything to go by...
