The whole thing is ridiculous. If the race is to end under safety car conditions, then the safety car should remain out until the race is over. So far, the stewards have been good this year, but this is a complete joke. >.<

It is, I agree. They should have an option of giving the old positions back. Right now no one knew what was the right thing to do and in the end schumi got a 20sec penalty for a very very silly incident, even the race stewards probably didn't know what to do right then

I agree, it's preposterous that he got a 20 second penalty. Even if you accept the assertion that the pass was illegal (And I for one am still yet to see anything to convince me that it was), when you consider all the confusion about which rules apply, the decent thing to do would have been to simply correct the positions.

Jeez.

They should of just let the safty car win, enter Bernd Maylander in the championship and give him 25 points.

He lead for the most laps of that Monaco GP :P

:banghead::hehe:

Man, that AMG engine sounds TASTY!!!

Well my views (sorry bin busy with work things)

Punishing Schu- bad form!! Sorry damon not impressed, and Im no Schuey fan. At worst it should have been a poiton reversal if indeed it did contravene a rule that seems ridiculous!

Webber Brill!! So glad you showed that whippersnapper how to drive on a drivers circuit :D

Rubens!! What were you thinkng throwing out your steering wheel to oncoming cars!! That was petulence and dangerous. That deserved a penalty far more than Schumachers move.

Rubens, considering he's basically the field's doddering old granddad, spends a lot of his time acting like a 5-year-old. I bet he didn't want to talk to the FiA about it because it would have been a lot of blah blah blah

still waiting on the official FIA reasoning, cause it seems odd given what Brawn said.

The new rule - 40.13 - states: "If the race ends whilst the safety car is deployed it will enter the pitlane at the end of the last lap and the cars will take the chequered flag as normal without overtaking."

nothing to argue there.

You know what. I think there might be something to argue there. The rule is ambiguous because the safety car entered the pit lane BEFORE the end of the last not AT the end of the last lap.
The correct wording should have been If the race ends whilst the safety car is deployed it will enter the pitlane DURING the last lap and the cars will take the chequered flag as normal without overtaking.

The rules are ambiguous and Schumacher should not have been penalised! Geez Im argueing against damon for Schumacher. Why do us Brits insist on fairplay!!

If they found Michael in the wrong, they should have reversed the positions, giving him a 20 second penalty when all the cars were bunched up was utter bollocks, they might as well of DQ'ed him.

I agree, they are all bunched up then and that's not fair. They should have just negated the pass. What they should do is simply not count any position changes that may have occurred then.
Damon Hill was one of the stewards that decided on the penalty, LOL Karma's a bi+ch.

Well for some reason he let Webber pass him so Webber wins!
