It might be reversed, they are looking at the rules

Matchet reviewed the regs and said it clearly states that on the last lap under safety car conditions no overtaking is allowed, Schumi back to 7th.

He'll get a 'drive through penalty' for that if he is found to have done wrong i think - ie 25s added to the race time.

I dont reknk he will, the replay showed Schumi passed him after the SC line. F1 has a new rules this year, there is a SC line once you have gone past that you can pass cars, its no longer the Start/Finish line

The point is whether or not the race finished under the safety car, they are saying that the ruling is that if the race finishes under the SC then no overtaking is allowed after the line.

Ross Brawn on BBC now - saying that technically the race wasn't finishing under the safety car so the move should be ok. Fair point... i can't see anything changing actually.

rarrrrrrr if It stands and Alonso loses the title by 2 pts at the end of the season, idiot you know who can be to blame. Samo crvena za mene!!!!!!! (Only red for me).

Yep immediately after the finish Alonso was listed as 7th but then the final results posted was Schumi back to 7th, said and done.

It's interesting, but I find myself agreeing with Brawn. The announcement that the safety car would be in at the end of the lap, rather than it just pulling in to the pits, sends the message that the race is to restart.

F1's website has Schumi as 6th though, where did you read that?
The SC was coming in on the last lap, it was in the pits by the time the pass happened. Schumi passed him after the SC line, once you pass that line youre allowed to pass cars, I dont understand If it wasn't the last lap this wouldn't even be discussed.

I read the posted final results at the end of the broadcast.

yes we all know the rules. What I would like is for Hill to make it personal. I can't believe I'm saying this but it's all about what is convenient I guess.

No it's only if the race technically finished under the safety car, but it supposedly did not - Brawn said the SC was technically coming in at the end of the lap, ie the race DID NOT finish under the SC.

Rule 40.13 If the race ends whilst the safety car is deployed it will enter the pit lane at the end of the last lap and the cars will take the chequered flag as normal without overtaking.

But what exactly is "safety car deployed". Does that mean

a) it's on track
b) its lights are on?

Very very grey area these rules. I don't mind either way if they let the result stand or reverse it, however, due to the greyness of these rules, nobody should get penalised additionally.
