I'd like robert Kubcia there, but I don't think Ferrari investigating Massa's form is particularly worrying, it just means their trying to find out what in particular is wrong - Massa himself wasn't to sure. And will probably mean they'll take this into consideration for changes to the car.

I think the investigation is more to see what is the real problem. As he mentioned he has struggled with the harder compounds, not so with the softer... but yeah, he's been a lot slower than Fernando. Still the best driver pairing is at Mclaren, it shows in the constructor's table and despite some people not rating Button that much (or Massa) his gap to Lewis has not been as bad as Alonso/Massa.

Ferrari ousting Massa in the middle of his contract, i doubt it. Don't think he deserves it, dont think Ferrari would do that... but once the contract ends, they will look at options; including Massa.

Isn't Massa's contract up at the end of the season?

Anyway i know his problem has mostly been with tyres - getting the one lap pace out of em and then struggling on the hards in the race. But then he didn't have that problem in Bahrain. I'm interested to see how he does at Turkey...

I think its a done deal, Kubica and Alonso are good friends away from the track, even still being team mates could ruin that somewhat. Kubica is also fluent in Italian.

Bahrain was a step softer in the tires.
And yes, Massa's contract runs out at the end of this season. He must be under lots of pressure.

re: tyres i just read that elsewhere too (autosport.com) with Massa saying he reckons he'll do better this weekend cause the softer tyres are back. So let's see what happens this weekend...

I also think that it may be a done deal as bud said. Ferrari usually get their drivers sorted with a lot of time to spare. If it does go ahead, i'm not sure where that'd leave Massa, i can't imagine him at any of the big 4 teams!

not as much presssure as Hamilton's tyre was!!

I think everyone just about got this out of their system, for the love of god let's not do the merry dance all over again....! :crying::whip:

Just to mention what I think the issue is.

As we all know the Ferrari is very kind to it's tyre's. Whenever bridgestone was reporting on Melbourne, they said Alonso's tyre's where in much better condition than anyone else's. As we seen the last year with Brawn, being kind to your tyre's is all well and good, but not being able to get those tyre's within a working temperture range is a huge issue.

Ferrari had a similar trait during 2008. If you remember, the softest tyre's where used at all the street circuits. Monaco, Singapore and Valencia. All 3 races Massa was on pole. Kimi also had a mid season slump during 2008, where he went 4 races having very medicore results. Much like what Massa had done over the last 4 races.

Massa just isn't able to get the tyre's at the right temperture. Alonso can be much more aggressive and has been able to get the tyre's working. The next 4 tracks, Monaco, Turkey, Canada and Valencia should be better tracks for Massa and Ferrari. 3 of those tracks use the soft range of tyres, whilst Turkey is so harsh on tyre's it shouldn't be an issue. It could change during these 4 races, but if it doesn't, then I think we have reason to consider who'll be driving that car next year.

I mean a few people we're looking harshly at Button after Bahrain, where he nearly didn't make Q3. But he won the next race and no one has said anything. If Massa wins a race soon then I'd said the critism will be dropped. But thats if.

At the time I posted this they were giving Massa till the British GP befoe they made their mind up. I hope it isnt a done deal and he still gets chance to prove himself. I remeber him blowing Schumacher away at Turkey in '06. The race was between Schuey and Alonso for second Massa was away in a class of his own.

Maybe it's better for Felipe getting away from Ferrari...I've been thinking about that lately...I don't think he will thougn.
Hey, he was about to sign a new contract, right?

If the rumor is true about the signed option it does not bode well for Massa sadly but its the typical shellgame of F1.
