Alonso is saying:

"If he wins the title because of this it wouldn't be fair. I'd be embarrassed for this sport," at least we know he has some limits to what he'll do himself.

I agree an unfair advantage, but sometimes you have to look at the bigger picture. It cannot become like the Premier League where you have court cases still going on and the new season is on the horizon. Time for McLaren to move on and put all their energy into that 2008 car. Show at least unlike Ferrari, they deserve some respect.

I have to laugh at Alonso's comments. What's he talking about? Who was the driver that was up to neck in the spy scandal and has acted in a totally unsporting manner all season long?:roll:

As for the appeal, it's unlikely McLaren won't be successful. However, the FIA can't decide when and when not to take action when the rules are breached. The information, if any, McLaren had was negligible, but McLaren were severely punished. The same line has to be taken here.

Apparently there was a precedent regarding fuel irregularities at some point in the 90's. I believe the team lost points, but not the driver.

The problem with F1 IS the bigger picture!!!, that bigger picture has always been there, It's called Red Sky at night, Ferrari Delight.

Worst than Mclaren bring the sport into disrepute is the idea of a whole sport being weighted in favour of one team, You might as well chuck away the word sport. Sport is a fair competition between opposing units, even the tiffosi have to admit that Formula 1 is and always has been an overly Ferrari friendly environment.
I'm veering away from the point anyway, Yes Ferrari in a similar situation would protest and would have won by now but the point is is that this IS a sport, Not a political organization, no matter what the reality is. If someone breaks the rules, no matter who it is or what the consequences, penalties MUST be given.

As for Alonso saying all that, well he's bound too, he's acted like a petulant child all season, this is him chucking the last toy out the pram.

If the FIA has always been so pro-Ferrari, why did they introduce the single tyre rule in 2005 which ended Ferrari's domination?

Thats very true, I won't bother to go through the dozens of examples of Ferrari getting there way. But the one tyre rule was definetly a biggy and definetly was the major reason they lost that year. Maybe I'm a little Bias???? :D

It's the old story of one rule for one and diferent rules for others, remember when BAR had an irregularity with fuel? ok it was a slightly different situation but they had points taken off and race bans! There is no way Mclaren will win an appeal when Mad Max is still with the FIA.

A good point, perhaps another topic but after this season can Max be relied upon to be unbiased? Time to move on?

Hopefully we get a swift answer to this appeal or just put Dennis and Max in the ring, and winner takes all?

Isn't it obvious why Mcleran, RD & LH losses both the championship.

They are not really racing, they are finding loop hole in the system to win. If they had put all their effort in the race itself, they might have won something.

See how Ferrari turn around from June. They are almost out of both the championships hunt. They work hard, and they turn it around a 180.

This is what the motor sport fans want to see, not fighting in court.

LH has had it all to win, but rookie is still a rookie, that never changes. He underestimated his rivals, and the most he overestimated himself. He could not handle the pressure, and fumble, and press the wrong button to shut down his car for the most vital part of the race.. rookie, no experience. Losing the title, he has only himself to blame, nobody else, and nothing else, not the gearbox. F1 is not just driving skill, but many other things come together.

Yup, they worked very hard - especially their lawyers, lobbyists and Italian Police. And they are not finding loop holes in the system - they are usually inventing them.

Shall we stop with that crap? Ferrari is known as the most rule-bending and breaking team in the last decade, but I do agree Kimi win fair and he does deserve this title more than any other driver in F1 for this season - both on and off the track.

And just a thought for good night - when McLaren, Williams, Renault and BMW were threatening to leave F1 and create new championship, Ferrari was the only big team ready to stick with FIA and F1. Reckon there's no reason for that..?

Yeah the GP Manufacturer's Association is going to be kicking itself.

I think we all want to see some fairness in the FIA's decisions, but then nobody wants to win the championship in this manner. Tough call; I say uphold the original verdict, for the sake of not becoming a mickey mouse enterprise.

SLIGHTLY different? Try COMPLETELY different! The only thing similar was that fuel was involved - that's where the similarities end.

A rule was broken, a very marginal advantage was gained. Completely Different !?? I hardly think so, what IS completely different is the punishment, And you know it.

To try and deliberately design an illegal fuel cell with a built-in hidden extra fuel compartment is quite different from cooling the fuel too much in the grueling heat of Interlagos. By the time the fuel was in the tank for a couple of laps, it would have been at ambient temp anyway. So, this was a very short-lived advantage if it was one. It could even have happened by accident - hint: two independent teams made the same mistake, probably because of the situation at hand.

I take your point but it's two teams that have swapped a lot of personnel recently, they knew what they were doing.
