For the history alone any driver would love to drive for them. According to Salo, anyone who say's they don't is a liar.

Can you guys/gals lay off just for once with the insinuations re. Ferrari and FIA? This thread is/was about KR being proud of Ferrari - can we stay on topic here?
THANKS!

Well, KR seems much happier at Ferrari than he was at McLaren - I wonder why? Nah, not really. With RD as your boss, who could be truly happy? FA isn't, and LH depends on his dad for guidance in dealing with RD. There could be some kinks in the making between the two of them depending on financial and other negotiations and yes, maybe even a request for number one status after this year's experience...

Ferrari on the other hand are set with their drivers incl. FM. The only question mark is JT and RB.

Teams such as Lotus have given far more to Formula One than Ferrari (and other big team teams) have or ever will.

That’s debatable. I can see where your coming from but don’t agree.
Lotus was the innovators but I don’t think they have the aura Ferrari has.

MF wrote the same crap in an earlier thread saying something like other than being the oldest team Ferrari has nothing else that distinguishes them - repeating it doesn't make it truer. Where is Lotus now? Ferrari just this season came up with an ingenious way to exploit the floor rules - they were called back by the FIA (after being ratted on by spies) and the FIA changed the rules to make that design illegal from then on (reminds me of Colin Chapman's dual-chassis). Ferrari also introduced the wheel covers. But where they really excel is the passion for racing. Compare that to the rather sterile and analytical atmosphere at McLaren - just read between the lines of KR's statement.

I agree pretty much if we see Ferrari show their interpretation of a regulation, even if they know it's against the spirit of the law, it's no different from almost any other "innovation" over the years that came from many teams. It's then up to the FIA to further define the spec. Some such things are decried for reasons of agenda(who can blame you if you are trying to win races), others are not blinked at at all by the stewarts. With the heightened sense of competiton these days, teams more often call out such things than in the past, but it's really no different.

This pretty much say's it all, atleast for me! May I pose a question, what color's, shirt's, flag's and hat's etc, are most predominant when a view of the crowd's are shown? The answer would be that of Ferrari! It has been said many time's over the past 23+yr's I have followed F1, and by past WDC's, that without Ferrari F1 would crumble into just your average motorsport arena.

Alot of people may disagree with my statement, like it or not, but I can promise you it's the truth.

It's not crap. It is true. Some people fall over themselves about Ferrari and give them more credit than they're really due. I would be lying if I said Ferrari were not important in Formula One's history, because they are. What they aren't is the focal point of the sport. Passion and romance is nice from teams, however, it's ground-breaking innovation from teams that has propelled Formula One forward. Without Cooper, Lotus etc. who knows where Formula One and motor racing in general would be. The idea you mention DD was a nice touch for sure, however, it's hardly up there with rear-engined cars, downforce, V-type torsion bar suspension , carbo fibre, turbochargers etc., is it. McLaren being the sterile team people make it out to be is a myth. When McLaren get down to work, yes, then they are 'rather sterile and analytical', however, after hours they can fun like anybody else. There are a number examples of this, one from Montoya who even had to concede this. If Raikkonen likes things better at Ferrari that's his prerogative. They have their way, McLaren have theirs. If you don't like a team's approach, don't join them. The McLaren way has made it the most successful team in Formula One per years existed with the most dominant Formula One car ever built, with ten constructors' championships and eleven drivers' championships. They must be doing something right, I'll tell you that.

McLaren did a lot right this year: They got the best all-round driver in Alonso and had an eager young gun alongside him,; produced what was, on the whole, the best car; Ron Dennis managed to stop the team from fracturing; won the constructors' championship; and just lost out on the drivers' championship because of a few small, niggly, but important mistakes. All while sticking to their values. It's a pity one or two snakes in the grass put the blinkers on a few things, however, McLaren can be very proud of themselves this season. I am certainly very proud to be a McLaren fan in 2007.
