...when caught red-handed: defusing as in oh, it wasn't an advantage - remember? Oh, we didn't benefit from Ferrari data...

Peter Windsor on SPEED TV: "I can't speak for Button or Sato but I was talking to Phil Prew, Lewis's engineer after that first session and he said categorically that Lewis went on a set of extreme wets at the beginning and did two exploratory laps and then came in and switched to wets, so intermediates to you and I, those were the two sets of tires used, this is before the issue came up. So we need to obviously find out what's going on there. But it would appear that certainly in McLaren's case they did everything correctly."

Contrast this statement with RD's later in the day: "Despite topping the timesheets, today has not been perfect for us as we made a mistake in this morning’s session and used one set of tyres too many on Lewis’s car. This was unfortunate and clearly did not provide any advantage. However we must now wait on the Stewards’ decision later this afternoon."

They sound more like Ferrari every day - what is the world coming to?

McLaren went to the stewards themselves to report what they had done. I believe it was a genuine error. While so many eyes are focused on them, they are less likely than ever to try try anything on.

So, 'caught red handed'? Not at all.

Well, Phil Prew's assertion indicates a different story. They first 'categorically' denied allegations that they did something wrong - so there must have been suspicions already from the outside. Then they probably double-checked and found ooops, we did something wrong, better tell the FIA because with them on our back already, it'll come out anyway. Still caught red-handed...

And the FIA took the "appropriate action". Case closed.

....yeah, with LH getting off lightly, again! It does seem as if LH has taken (been given) the role of MS - Teflon coated, not much that sticks.

I tend to agree with this in the context that, imo, it is all done for television rating's.

What is it about LH that annoys so many people? MS got away with worse than this in his time, yet thats OK. The ferrari followers have very short memories it would seem

You take this abit to seriously as you seem too constantly look for an argument? I guess if your beloved Nico was involved we would really never hear the end of your complaint's.

If you have learned anything you would see I fully support LH why do you tend to constantly overlook that? There is nothing for you to be overtly excited about with Nico so your surpressed anger is taken out CONSTANTLY on Ferrari supporter's? I'm at the end of my rope so please tighten the noose as I'm not sure how much more of this I can take :!:

Sorry if I touched a raw nerve , only making an observation. Nothing personal to yourself intended.
