It's enjoyable to see Hamilton dominate, but I was annoyed that Rosberg's race got ruined unnecessarily. Petty rules when common sense could prevail meant we were robbed of a justifiably close race.
Common sense being what not too punish him from crossing the white lines?
Probably to realise it wasn't intentional and merely a mistake, not to gain an advantage. Same thing with Badoer in Valencia - he put his wheel over by an inch and then went back in. Fair enough, if someone pulled right across and ignored the lines completely, punish them. But in both cases where such penalties have been handed out this year, drivers have attempted to rectify their mistakes. If you can give back a position you gained from cutting a chicane and get away with it, then surely if you try to return to the confines of the white line as soon as is possible that should be taken in to consideration?
If rules are meant to be fair, of course the best driver who is fair will win... but fact of life is that when there are rules, usually it is kept to the letter and sometimes without common sense. Sounds like football don't you think?
But in the case of the FIA stewards, that simply isn't the case. They're all over the place with rule decisions like that.
