In my opinion ralf has HAD his chance and is overpayed, makes too many silly mistakes (that are labelled as 'racing incidents') and is a generally a clown ..

I agree. Ralf was at Wiliams when they had a decent car and he generally underperformed. The odd flash in the pan, wing and a prayer race, but not consistent enough. Webber and Button have never had the chance to show what they can do. Furthermore, Kubica, Heidfeld, Sutil, Rosberg, Kovalainen, Davidson et al. have all shown they are ones to watch out for. Even now, with some lacking experience, Ralf is behind all of those drivers.

1)Heidfeld, is doing very well in a BMW a team to watchout for in 08
2)Sutil, average driver
3)Nico Rosberg, very talented and my pick for McLaren
4)Kovalainen, very talented and his team will improve 08
5)Davidson, my pick for McLaren
6)Jenson, shouldn't have left Williams very talented, but he contracted to Honda and Honda paid £30 million to Williams, to get him out of his contract.
7)Kubica, talented but I don't think he would get on with Lewis and I can't stand him.

Crazy as this may seem I am starting to feel this may be a genuine possiblity. Ralf said he was in contact with " race winning teams" and McLaren are obviously going to have a vacancy and they would like a german driver with experience. Nico dosent have that yet and besides wouldnt except being a number two. Heidfeld has a great seat which is probably better than M'claren next year and any way if it isnt he dosen't want to be a number two. Sutil is too erratic and again lacks expereince and so the only german left for mercedes is Ralf. Go to planet F1 and see if that is what his words could be interpreted as!

Mclaren are not that desperate. Ralph will never be another michael

The only time McLaren would be desperate when linked with Ralf would be to get rid of him or the speculation that he will be joining the team.
