Crazy as this may seem I am starting to feel this may be a genuine possiblity. Ralf said he was in contact with " race winning teams" and McLaren are obviously going to have a vacancy and they would like a german driver with experience. Nico dosent have that yet and besides wouldnt except being a number two. Heidfeld has a great seat which is probably better than M'claren next year and any way if it isnt he dosen't want to be a number two. Sutil is too erratic and again lacks expereince and so the only german left for mercedes is Ralf. Go to planet F1 and see if that is what his words could be interpreted as!

The other thing is he might be talking about prodrive! Making him a provissional number 3 driver!

People keep talking about McLaren having a number one and a number two driver. Unless Ron goes, that is not a likely scenario, so whoever goes there will be on an even footing with, presumably, Hamilton.

I think we have to wait till next week.
Gp2 finishes this week, so after it will be clear which drivers get plucked from there, and everything will fall into place.

He can talk with whoever he wants, but please... with such a choice of talented young drivers, why would McLaren go for someone like RS?

Nico would be happy to drive with LH (if Frank lets him go).
NH is hoping for more podiums for next year, but no title run before 2009 (and he is being optimistic). That does not necessarily mean he would switch, but you never know.
There will be new talents available from lesser leagues at the end of season.
And last, but not least, FA said he has working contract with McLaren for 2008 and he is happy to stay there. So I reckon he will. You don't give away champion just to favour rookie; even if RD would, he's not alpha & omega of the team - some other powers are to be asked as well...

Ron Dennis has said he doesn't want people who are washed up, has beens, or in Ralf's case - and Button's too saying as there were some rumours on the go, never beens. Ralf at McLaren. Please no. There is some good talent around. They may not have the experience yet, however, in another year or so will be good enough for teams like McLaren and Ferrari. McLaren should aim for those people, not drivers like Ralf.

Even if Ralf went to McLaren, he wouldn't last as long as Michael Andretti did in 1993, and Hamilton won't come running to his defence like Senna did for Andretti when Ron wasn't too chuffed.

Exactly! He's an unreliable driver and I can't see any reason why McLaren would want him. I honestly can't see him being in F1 next year, despite his many protestations that he will be.

When Ralf is on form, he is pretty good, however, he does one or two blinders of a race each season and then you never see him. That's not the marque of a good driver. Any top or midfield team would do well to avoid him. He hasn't earned his place in Formula One for the future.

Oink Oink flap flap (sound of pigs flying) --- Ralf won't have a drive he should have retired after his first season.

You are absolutely right Darkside and I agree with you... it is crazy! By what convoluted thought process you conceived that bizarre proposition, I have no idea. Unless, of course, you mean as tea boy. Obviously McLaren will sign Ben Hur in a bid to stop Mad Max accusing them of copying the Ferrari chariot. I believe teams of horses are currently being tested in a secret wind tunnel at an undisclosed location.

Ralf should head for Karting for age 8-11.......... :D:D:D The man is a joke he made enough money from being a loser it's about time he get lost.... Anyway very funny posting. If it was up to Mad-max German Ralf will be in Mclaren and Lewis will be no where in F1.

Yeah well you and Phil t are not worthy of reading, your both utterly from what I have read of objective and partially impartial thought! And I bet half the forum agree!

I think Ralf to M'claren would be a great idea for both M'claren and Ralf. Ralf is without doubt a top five driver and is far more deserving of a top drive than button or webber who have had a chance and are not good enough. The M'clari thing and Wrong dennis is not funny, neither is the alonslow thing and please do not mention either driver as this is a thread about ralf, not the bloody spygate - botherd and not are two words that the spygate is to me. I think Ralf finally deserves his chance in a team worthy of his talents.
