One point that I think needs to be made as well is that Motorsport is dangerous and as such (just like we do not have many female front line troops) we (as in the human race) do not want to see women injured/hurt/killed

I am not saying a males life is worth less it is just more acceptable to people.

I think once one Woman made it into F1 and became successfully be that becoming a World Champion, or just a race winner it would certainly get other young girls interested in karting perhaps, paving the way for more women in motor sport.

That's precisely what I find frustrating. Last year four soldiers were killed in Afghanistan, one of which happened to be a woman. Instead of covering all of the deaths equally, the press dedicated all of it's coverage to the female soldier simply because she was a woman. It's annoying and patronising, there should be no distinction but unfortunately there still is

That's not aimed at you personally Jabberwocky, but rather the general condescending attitude that a lot of people have towards women who wish to partake in dangerous jobs/sports etc.

No worries I did not say it way my point of view. I agree if a Woman want equal pay then they should have to face equal dangers in the military. You just don't want to get me started on posertive discrimination in the military.

Yes, but it shouldn't be more shocking. The death of each of the three male soldiers is just as tragic as the death of the female solider but the press insist on perpetuating the myth that women are more fragile and therefore more worthy of sympathy. It might sell more papers but it also reinforces the sterotype, that's where my issue is.

Yeah Definitely - I whole hearted agree, but unfortunately some people have that opinion, and it will only be made worse if the media keeps the attitude it has towards women doing dangerous jobs.

For example if a women did join F1 there would be MASSIVE uproar from the media which means there would be a lot of pressure on her from the get go, which isn't fair really.

As for Dana becoming an F1 driver. I think that is worrying. How many people have come over from the states with a lot wins behind them, get to F1 and struggle. (Zanardi, Bordais)

So for a driver not doing to well then turning up to F1 might be in a whole world of poo. I don't think flashing her bits will keep sponsors/teams happy for long.

There hasn't been a female formula 1 driver since 1992 i think. lol.

I didn't know there'd been one. The head of USF1, Peter Windsor, writes in F1 Racing every month and he ruled it a while back saying she was staying put in NASCAR or something along those lines.

Is she considered to be the best American driver?

According to Wikipedia there have been 5 female drivers in F1, I didn't know either.

Juany Babe came over and did good Danica might too. We'll never know unless she tries. No reason why a woman shouldnt do it with adequate training and adequate talent, it just takes a while to get rid of historical stereotypes.
