I have a pair of Simpson's that I baught for karting for around $100 and I love them. I wore them to work one day in my MR2T so I could practice 'heel & toe' and they are so comfortable I ended up wearing them the whole day/night. They got plenty of look's at the grocer around midnight but I could not bare taking them off :hehe: !

I have a pair of Lico FIA 2000 standard boots which I bought for when I did some single seater racing last year. I use them for whenever I race on rFactor with my steering wheel as well, you need footwear for when you use the Logitech G25 steering wheel's pedals.

The thinner the sole the better for me. I drive in my well worn flip flops most the time.

I'm not sure about the socks Jabberwocky, don't your feet keep slipping off the pedals?

I have never had a problem just driving in socks on a private road. However I have not tried to heel and toe with just socks on.

I find driving without socks on too painful on my feet (what I mean is that my feet are really ticklish and I giggle like a school girl)

Great replies thanks!
I think i'm going to take a look at the Apline Stars, Simpsons and Puma ferrari shoes.
Ideally i would like a pair i can wear both for driving and also out of the car. The ferrari puma shoes look like the only shoes that are suitable for both. They have the right things mentioned here like a thin sole for a good feel on the pedals as well as that curved heel thing.

I have a pair of Puma shoes (sort of like the ones below) which I use for driving. Love them because they are snug but give me good feel on the pedals. It's difficult to give recommendations though - my OH wanted a pair of shoes like mine but the Puma ones are really uncomfortable for him.

the old chuck taylors, i have a pair of them they have a pretty thin soul and for a casual shoe would be good for driving. Still have nothing on a real shoe.

That's what you get when you try to wear a pair of shoes for the opposite gender. ;)

I have a couple of pairs of Adidas Tuscany/Monza that are great for driving. I know they're not the real deal, but good enough for the road. The fact that the Tuscany have the Goodyear Eagle F1 tread pattern is an anorak's bonus.
