Driving shoes
Hello - I am looking for a pair of driving shoes - any recommendations?

What are the differences between a normal shoe and a driving shoes like Puma is selling?
I see alot of them have a heel thing on which is looks good as a pivot but not sure what else to look for.

On the Puma and Ferrari shoes, are they more for style or performance?
I like the idea of having a pair for both. They could get expensive though.

it is to do with the feel/thickness of the souls mate. you get a lot more feel for what the car is doing with them on.

It is illigal but try and drive with just your socks on to see how different that feels

The thinner the sole the better for me. I drive in my well worn flip flops most the time.

I'm not sure about the socks Jabberwocky, don't your feet keep slipping off the pedals?

Probably safer to drive barefoot than with socks, so your foot won't slip off a brake pedal or anything.

I've got two pairs of Puma's, but I don't think they're the "driving" type. I bet other models are good for feeling the pedals & road.

Are you looking for RACING shoes, or regular shoes that look like racing shoes??
If its for normal driving and you want regular shoes that look like racing shoes... just buy the ones you like the most. You wont get any performance from your shoes.

If you want racing shoes then there's a lot of professional racing shoes.... and i'm sure you can find a good pair at the same place you got your racing suit. You have a racing suit right?

I like driving barefoot... the car feels like its going faster and accelerates better :D its true!

I have Karting shoes and they are pretty damn expensive Alpinestar ones. the top of the range GP ones are crazy expensive but no doubt youd get better feel and are very light/.

They're not space boots, they can't serve too great a function can they? Unless they protect your feet in a crash, I don't know why people would pay top dollars for racing shoes.

Soles aren't the most costly part of the shoe, so if that's all that changes, racing shoes shouldn't be that expensive.

Gloves dont protect drivers' hands from a crash. So, why wear them?

I have never had a problem just driving in socks on a private road. However I have not tried to heel and toe with just socks on.

I find driving without socks on too painful on my feet (what I mean is that my feet are really ticklish and I giggle like a school girl)
