He simply needs to qualify better, starting 5th is no good. He needs to be on the front two rows for the rest of the season and then a couple more wins will come to him.

Agree 100% hes been under par in quali and is paying the penalty.

He also needs to improve his starts, he's had a few mediocre ones now.

I think Buttons problem now seems to be nerves.

He doesn't seem relaxed driving the car. He seems a bit tentative and self-aware. I mean, accidentally double shifting during quali, lifting off the throttle during the first corner scrap. He comes across as cool and composed, but not so much when he's driving. But really, what do you do as a driver in that situation. I think there will be a lot of pressure on Button in the coming weeks, and its really not going to be much help.

But I'm rooting for him, to an extent. I'd still love to see Vettel make an amazing comeback. But really, I'd like to see the Button from the first 7 races win the championship.

 I also think he might be trying too hard because he realizes his points lead is shrinking.

Like many sportsmen, it's easy getting to the final hurdle, but getting over it with the finish line in sight seems to be a problem. Which translates into him settling for lower points (in damage limitation mode) rather than playing for the big points to consolidate and extend his world championship lead!

Seems like every poor result perpetuates the next one into a deep, bottomless rut from which there is seemingly no escape. He needs, Needs, NEEDS to sort out his tire and quali issues; the rest will come. It's partly psychological for him at this point. Rubens can win in a Brawn and they have the same cars.

lifting off the throttle during the first corner scrap

I've never really likened Jenson to picking a fight at the first corner. He's more of a wait-and-see kind of guy, and it's worked for him to an extent. An example of someone who'll fight at the first corner: Kimi Raikkonen. That guy has no issue cutting your throat, kicking your dog, and violating your woman so long as it lands him ahead of you after the corner. Jenson just isn't that guy. He lacks that aggression. It doesn't make him a bad driver, just a safe one.

But really, what do you do as a driver in that situation. I think there will be a lot of pressure on Button in the coming weeks, and its really not going to be much help.

You rise above, because that's what champions do. I wonder how many times the tires weren't up to par for Kimi or Lewis, Mika or Schumi; how many times the car just didn't "feel right"... yet there they were, time and again, atop the highest level of the podium.

Things are going from bad to worse.

My main fear is that Button will keep on going like this, but still win the championship due to other teams taking the big points.

Nothing wrong with that though - if the competition sucks I have no sympathy... :P:twisted::whip:

Gonna be tight but if the Red Bull finish where qualyfied, it is ok for Jens, just worry about good old Rubens maybe

I'm not worried about sympathy for the other drivers, how about some sympathy for the fans?
