Perception is the key to reality.
And reality is McLaren have admitted they didn't manage Fernando well.
Thats your perception.
No, it's Martin Whitmarsh's, and by extension, McLaren's. Nobody is saying Alonso is blameless, but the problems Alonso had at that team were of McLaren's creating and it was their job to sort it out. They did not do so, and whilst that doesn't make them directly responsible for anything Alonso did wrong, it also means they can't pass the blame because they let it happen. If Whitmarsh can admit they made mistakes, you have no reason not to.
Do you have any real understanding of Mclaren/Mercedes operate? I think they are great before anyone thinks I am lining an attack up against them, but the fact is they are the most corporate team on the field. They have entire buildings devoted to P.R.
My point earlier, perception is the key to reality, was in other words, opinions are like assholes we all have one.
My opinion is based upon what I see with my own eyes, through reasoned discussion and occasionally from inside sources who I trust. I make no assumptions about your sources.
Finally, if a man becomes a murderer who do we blame? The man who through his own actions committed the dastardly deed or the society that allowed it to happen? Ergo, how is it Mclarens fault if a two time world champion can't behave like one?
I admire Fernando for his driving skills, and recognising the damage he did to his reputation outside spain he seems to be a much more agreeable character. Which is admirable. It will be fascinating to watch him in what will hopefully be a competitive Ferrari. But if I am ever asked about what I though of him in 2007 it's simple. Spoilt, Brat, Toys, Pram.
