What if McLaren had actually managed to build a decent car and were walking away with the Championship ALL thanks to KERS?

...anyway, is there any news on if and when Williams will introduce their system? I heard at the start of the season that it could be used by Turkey, which was obviously a while ago now...

A recent interview with Sam Michael said that they still udecided when they're going to use it, although they are still working on it. So really it's a case of "watch this space"...

I hazard a guess it could be used at Singapore and Abu Dhabi. But the sooner they can introduce it and assess it, the sooner they can decide whether to fully intergrate it into the FW32 as they have also started work on that as well.

Yep, they've only won 1 race because the car is practically a clone of the FW30 because it only works on street circuits.

i think it won because it had 4 wheels to be honest. KERS would have been useless without them!

Ok maybe look at it this way,
what's cheaper

A. No kers
B. Williams Kers
C. Ferrari Kers

If they've already spent the money, they're entitled to use it, just like any other team. The difference here is that teams that have it working (McLaren, Ferrari) have to spend a lot more on their systems because of the increased research and development work that they seem to have done, the way their system works and, crucially, the fact that they replace the KERS batteries at each event. It would cost them more to run it over a season than Williams' flywheel system, which would only require replacement after wear or damage.

Formula One is about technological advancement and innovation (not that the FIA write regulations to allow for much of that ) and at the moment it is looking like Williams think they've cracked the low-cost high-payoff thing with their KERS system. Of course, it remains to be seen if that's actually the case, but the team are looking confident.

All of the Williams-bashing is a little silly when you think that, if they really wanted to spite FOTA, they could have run their factory during the "holiday" and gained an extra bit of development time on their cars.

Except, it's still in the 2010 regulations, so they're fully entitled to use the system they've spent their money developing...

Despite the fact that they fully support budget-capping whilst the majority of the other teams (in FOTA, that is) want to be able to spend hundreds of millions? Sure. No care whatsoever.
