as they have continued to work on it, and they are not part of FOTA. Maybe KERS will surface next year. Why else would you spend money on a system that will never see the light of day?!

Maybe WIlliams can sell it to other companies?

If they did decide to use it, FOTA would be annoyed. Infact Williams should just do the opposite of everything FOTA has agreed.

They envision other uses in the public sector (buses, cars, etc.), so they could sell it to manufacturers if it's a hit.

Williams are just trying to be awkward. Okay, they don't agree with everything FOTA has to say, but their actions seem a little bit petty to me.

I think it's a little misleading to say FOTA would be annoyed. I suspect a few teams would be annoyed and others would not. McLaren, for instance, have been making noises for quite some time about using KERS next season, but Toyota (the usual hardliners) want to see the back of it. More likely, a row could erupt within FOTA, which would satisfy Williams' childish agenda and give power back to Ecclestone and the FIA.

I could foresee a reintegration offer by FOTA extended to Williams if they abandon KERS (in case that FOTA as a whole is still opposed).

Why are Williams being any more childish than FOTA? Williams being booted out of FOTA for taking care of their own business and employees; would FOTA have supported Williams financially if a breakaway did happen? If we are going to accuse Williams of being childish; FOTA need to be tarred with the same brush. If Williams think they can get a competitive advantage in using their KERS system then I say go for it, after all F1 is about technological innovation to get an advantage over your rivals.

Still on the anti FOTA tirade huh :P basically Williams are putting themselves first on the KERS issue, McLaren for example would prefer to keep KERS but for the sake of the sport have put their own ideas aside and agree with FOTA. Now who out of the 2 are looking out for the sport?
Williams are being not only childish but selfish and are desperately looking for an advantage.

I'm always on the anti-FOTA tirade! I don't think they are good for the sport in general, they have their own agenda, the whole "what fans want" is all smoke and mirrors.

Williams are being not only childish but selfish and are desperately looking for an advantage.

Isn't that what all the teams do? try anything within (and sometimes outside) the rules to get a competitive advantage over their rivals!

Maybe they arent planning on using it next year, if they've spent all this money on it then they have a right to complete it and use it for a few races. They are goin to complete other versions for cars, buses, etc anyway..

Yup it isn't like Williams are particularly flush...

Why waste all that money on a system that could be used throughout the automobile world?

At least they're not stealing Ferrari documents or telling their drivers to lie to the stewards in order to get a podium. ;)

Williams should definately introduce KERS if they want to, I mean what can FOTA do? Give them penalties? Ban them from F1? The FIA control F1, not FOTA.

Well it wouldn't be gentalmenlike - either they make it clear to fota that they won't listen to them on kers so fota know where they stand or they keep with the flow and not use it. Just because they can't be punished for it doesn't mean they should do it. Keep all things the same and replace Williams with Ferrari - they'd be complaints then.

Fota have their own agenda? Well I guess Williams is being direct in only caring about what is best for them and disregarding what's best for the sport in general!

As for Fota not being good for the sport? Hello I dunno what you're watching but they are the sport!
