Congrats to the Honda F1 team for reaching a new World Land Speed record in one of their F1 cars, piloted by Alan can de Merwe. The Bonneville 400 team have reached a measured mile speed of 400kph!

Their overall average speed was 397.360 kph (246.908 mph) across two runs. They also set a new class record for the flying kilometre with an average speed of 397.411 km/h (246.983 mph)

Both of these speeds are also officially the fastest and F1 car has gone - although the FIA has yet to ratify these results.

The engine used was a 3 litre V10 and they ran on Michelin tyres. They were so close to an average speed of 400 km/h that I don't think this is the last we've seen of this team :)

My question is: WHY?

The answer is: Because they win nothing in Formula 1, they use their money (much money) making this record. So...they will be remembered for something! :D

My question is: WHY?

Maybe they were the inspiration behind JB's win ;)
Either way it's been a good few weeks for Honda!

My question is: WHY?

why compete in F1?

why go for Mach 1 in the land speed record?

why follow the cheat schumacher?

why ask questions of man pushing the boundaries of performance?
