i know that

Thats why you asked

Anyways, I doubt that Hartley will actually even get a seat next year. There are other, more experienced and developed drivers out there. Also, if Alguesuari gets this seat, who's going to be Red Bull reserve driver now. Wonder would Bourdais do it :hehe:

To be honest i think there will be a wave of new F1 drivers next season. Hartley will find a seat if he really wants to.

Only if all the new teams are in, but still I can't see a 'wave' coming in.

Still nothing official from STR and Buemi says that the team rushed, and that they will have the Silverstone updates (worth 9/10 of a second) for Hungary.
I have my doubts as to whether Bourdais is being replaced. I think Red Bull needs STR to pull any points they can off of Brawn and the kid is just a little too questionable.

I asked if he had one not that you need one to drive an F1 car!

Bordais was hugging all the members of his team after his car broke down in Germany, the commentators on FOX said they thought he was saying his farewells to the team (paraphrasing). He may not have known at the beginning of the weekend when he was asked by the media, but it seemed pretty definitive after the race. I agree with you though, its foolish to get rid of your only experienced driver capable of building a good setup, to bring in a new kid with no experience. The fastest driver in the world couldn't get the results STR wants consistently. One thing I find people saying a lot is that hes being removed because he has been outperformed by his new team mate, which is simply not the case... Buemi does have 3 points to Bordais' 2, but if you look at average race position, Bordais beats out Buemi, and if you took mechanical failures such as Germany out of the equation, the difference would be quite large. His qualifying sucks, there can be no argument there, but he has consistently finished races ahead of Buemi, so does it really matter? Personally I think in a proper ride, Bordais would show us his true colors, STR is just the wrong team.

Zoom
Game over
Anyone who saw Sebastien Bourdais walk up to the pitwall and part with a fairly emotional pat on the back from Toro Rosso Technical Director Giorgio Ascanelli following his retirement from the German Grand Prix, will not be surprised to hear that the Frenchman has been dropped by the team it was confirmed today.

Bourdais, who made his move to Formula One after winning four straight Champ Car titles, joined Toro Rosso last year alongside Sebastian Vettel and scored two points.

This year he was joined by Swiss rookie Sebastien Buemi and it had been expected that Bourdais would dominate the driver pairing. However - for whatever reason - Bourdais struggled with the STR4 and after 27 Grand Prix starts, the Le Mans-born racer is out of the series.

Last weekend’s German Grand Prix was Sebastien Bourdais’ last race for Scuderia Toro Rosso.

Franz Tost : “In Sebastien’s second year with us, the partnership has not met our expectations and therefore we have decided to replace him as from the next round of the World Championship, the Hungarian Grand Prix.”

Alguersuari is the current British F3 champion and has been competing in the World Series by Renault this year with Carlin Motorsport where he is currently eighth in the standings.

Sebastien Loeb remains in the Red Bull picture however and the Citroen WRC star could - in theory - compete in the season finale for Toro Rosso in Abu Dhabi following the end of his rallying commitment for the season.

Ah poop. :(
I think they set their expectations high for Bourdais after Vettel last year... I guess they expected him to at least do much better than Buemi, but he hasn't managed to do that.
Not sure how brining a new guy in half way through a season will help. He'll get some experience, but it's not gonna help the team standing much.

Bummer. I'm down to my big 3 of Kimi, Vettel and Alonso.
Bourdais was my underdog, although I guess Kimi could fill that slot the way things are going this year.
I had hoped they would have at least given Bourdais a shot in the upgraded car to see if that "fixed the problem" for him.

Ya because that is one hell of an upgrade. Is this the last we'll hear from Bourdais or will someone else give him a chance in F1 again?
