AND! James Allen is now interviewing the drivers according to that story. I knew that the new interviewer sounded like James Allen, I just didn't think it actually was JA.

Anyways, seeing the youtube logo in F1. Could this be good news for watching F1 vids on youtube. Considering youtube videos are pretty much outlawed on youtube.

Aye I knew it was James Allen. Interesting. I thought it wasn't Peter Windsor who did it though. I thought it was Bob Constanduros?

It's always been Peter Windsor and now I'll have the dubious pleasure of listening to James Allen
At least PW still does the grid walks and chimes in for Speed TV.

YouTube as USGPEs main sponsor would make me one happy fan. I have been anxiously awaiting sponsor and driver news, if this YouTube thing sticks, it could really provide the US team with the coverage that it needs to build a big fan base over here in the states. It's such a perfect pairing when I think about it, I just hope it sticks.

I normally read the transcripts later rather than watching the press conferences. Means I can go and do other stuff as soon as the podium ceremony is over :P

But that way you miss out on the drivers' expressions and nuances in their voices (well, except for KR  )...

From F1 Live:

The new US F1 Formula One team has confirmed that Chad Hurley, co-founder and CEO of YouTube, has signed up on a multi-year arrangement as its "primary investor".

A press release said American Hurley, 33, will "provide visionary guidance and corporate strategy expertise" to the new-in-2010 outfit headed by Ken Anderson and Peter Windsor.

It was not explained if the deal involves sponsorship by the YouTube video-sharing website, whose relationship with Bernie Ecclestone's Formula One Management has been a difficult one.

"Getting in on the ground floor of a project of this size and scope is a tremendous opportunity, and I look forward to helping shape the US F1 vision and corporate strategy for years to come," said Hurley.

Team Principal Anderson added: "Bringing in a businessman with his level of credentials, and experience in developing and fostering a vision for startup companies, is an honour, and we look forward to taking on the Formula One challenge together in 2010 and beyond."

Sporting director Windsor said: "Chad's commitment to this team is vital and his visionary expertise and leadership will help steer us into the future as we look to attract best-in-class sponsors, drivers, employees and fans in our quest to compete at the highest level of motor sports."

I wonder how the youtube/F1 copywrite problems will be dealt with if the youtube logo happens to be on screen at the time?!?!

As for Branson I would of hoped that he is smart enough not to try and run a race team and let it be done by the guys whose job it is. pretty much as DM does at RB + STR. Maybe Brawn wanted too much money.

Which leads me to think maybe Brawn should of sold all its advertising when it was at the head of its game. as now they are gonna struggle getting the same price.

I really hope he can help bring YouTube along as a major sponsor, I think it would be great for the sport. YouTube is one of the most viewed websites in the world, there is so much potential with YouTube and F1, lets hope it works out.

Yeah Ewan, I read that Branson wanted to eventually buy Brawn out and rename the team Virgin. But Ross wanted to keep ownership and the team name so Branson is looking to Manor to buy them out.

that would never surprise me with him. Infact its something im surprised he hasnt already done.
Though i think it would be funny to hear the commentators ... "and here comes the first of the virgins into the pits!" lol :hehe:

Yeah, that seems to be what went down. Branson was convinced the Brawn GP name was worthless, but since they were so successful so early on, Brawn GP is fast becoming a household name, especially in the UK (Which is obviously an important market for Virgin).

I'm sure Brawn can line up another sponsor - I want it to be Coca-Cola, so we can have Soft Drink Wars between Red Bull and Brawn (We almost do right now since Monster Energy Drinks are teamed up with JB)

I would love to see a black car with a big alien blood green "M" on it.

Ok, no longer directed at VB, just some random thoughts...Why is BE so against F1 vids on youtube? As a newer fan, youtube is probably the best place I've found to see old footage and learn some of the history. Is he afraid he'll lose money on DVD sales?

Why are Anderson and Windsor pushing the America angle so hard? F1 should teams should want to win races, not display national pride. I mean guess some national pride is good, but it seems to be their main focus I'm not sure why the feel the need to mention it so often. Doesn't the world hate us enough already? :banghead:
