Bernie has to be pretty p'off with Max... I think it is pretty obvious to understand the teams have much more knowledge about how to make an interesting series (since they are the ones who provide everything from the technology, the show, the drivers and even sponsors!)

The way i see it, FOTA can build a superb breakaway and call in Bernie as an assistant :)

I can't believe the FIA is binding Ferrari and Red Bull with a silly contract... they can still run a B team at the cheap F1 and the serious stuff at the FOTA series.

Will the FOTA series allow tobacco and booze advertising? :hehe: i'm hoping for naked pit babes! :drink:

Max... it's time to go.

Ferrari B-team in FIA's series :rofl::thumbup:

Booze is already being advertised in F1.

What about naked pit boys??

Raikkonen will follow Ferrari out of F1

By Jonathan Noble Friday, June 19th 2009, 10:37 GMT

Kimi Raikkonen says he will feel some sadness if he is forced to turn his back on Formula 1 next year - but says he will have no second thoughts about following Ferrari to a breakaway championship.

With the Formula One Teams' Association (FOTA) having announced on Thursday that it is to set up a breakaway series in 2010, it means that many big name stars will stick with their teams out of F1.

Raikkonen said at Silverstone, prior to confirmation of the breakaway plans, that he would be following Ferrari wherever they went.

"For sure the team are going to race somewhere, I have a contract, so I race whatever they are planning to do," said the Finn.

"Of course we all want to be in F1 with a proper F1 as it has been, with good rules, but it is not up to the drivers. There are a lot of things going on, and I am going to race wherever this team is going to be. If F1 then great, but if not then it is going to be something else.

"I would like to be in F1. That is why I came to F1 and why I am still here. It is the biggest racing in the world, with the best drivers and teams. So it will be sad to lose it."

Kinda on topic, but i really posted this because it basically quashes all the Alonso rumors...

Best of luck Max, i think the FIA might be aiming to bump him from the position as this will make them look very bad, and TBH he has been there too long, Bernie i don't mind so much, he just wants to make pennies, but max is a dirty political animal, and it is now showing where he is being childish and trying his own agenda, which is not in the best interests of the sport.

At least the race is on aswell as new top gear on sunday.

I can't see why everyone is happy about this split. This will dilute the sport. Mark my words...

I agree, sorta... i think the whole 'grass is greener' mentality is present, but i don't want to subscribe to that myself for fear of disappointment!

I dont tink people are actually happy. Its just that the position the teams hold seem more rational, and most fans 'have faith' that the teams can create an interesting series.

Of course, the F1 brand is very heavy and should take a big bite out of the teams' plans, but its only a brand and nothing impossible to overcome. What i find impossible to overcome is the input of the big teams and the sportsmen and knowledge behind them.

Precisely.

I think that having the teams organize their own series is akin to letting having your goats to watch over your grass. Or a policeman watching over a box of donuts and coffee. Anyway, you get the idea. If we think there's a lot of bickering at this moment in F1, wait 'til the huge heads of Briatore and Di Montezemolo bash together.

Gonna get ugly. I give the breakaway series at most a year or two, if it comes to fruition--I have a feeling it won't, and that they'll figure something out and stay in F1.

the break away series is the best news since they brought in the new rules on the new aero dynamic package. I can't wait for the hearing! Only thing is this season is now pointless...so teams might pull out :D

Pay the fine?

Max is suing the breakaway teams, just announced on Sky news

haha good luck with that.

:bs:

They will piss on him :irked:
I think me and Bud can fully agree that they won't care? Plus why would they believe a sexed up pervert? Who re-in acted a Nazi umpalumpa orgy? I'd shoot him :banghead: Plus what could he get out of them? $40 Million each :hehe: how ironic? But he won't get nothing out of them so i wouldn't even bother :irked:

The season is not pointless. It's still, after all, their current championship. What's gonna Briatore do, race 'em next month in his backyard? All the teams have commitments not only with the FIA but also with advertisers, drivers, etc.

I still fail to see this as a completely good thing. I think many people will be disappointed.

Great reaction there from Max Mosely! Rather than trying to save the teams from leaving F1, he instead decides to sue them. He is totally out of his mind.
