It's not the outcome anyone really wanted but I am happy to see all this back and forth coming to an end should FOTA actually follow through with their threat. I am still sceptical that FOTA will actually leave F1; I still think a last minute agreement will be made. If not I will still watch F1; the sport will recover just fine, it'll take a hit initially but will come back stronger and there could still be 13 teams on the grid next year assuming that all the teams on the standby list actually make it onto the grid!

the breakaway will have more of a resemblance to F1 than the 2010 Series. So do you follow the sport at its best or the name no matter what its formula?

If the breakaway happens I will follow both series if they are available to me. We don't know what people will watch, FOTA could be in for a rude awakening if they can't find broadcasters willing to show their series. If the FOTA's series goes to cable/satellite only then F1 would have an inherent advantage being on free to air TV!

Also other considerations are what if the manufacturers pull out in a few years leaving McLaren, Ferrari, Red Bull, Toro Rosso and Brawn GP. And I believe that Brawn are wavering whether to enter the FIA championship unconditionally or not based on their recent statement saying they are sure of being on F1 next season!

pessimistic view you have there, seems like you dont want it to work not that it wont work.

I'm very pessimistic about all things F1 these days with all the courtroom and off-track BS. I don't want either championship to fail but with manufacturers already on the fence about staying in F1/GPWC. I just feel that manufacturers (Ferrari not included) will leave whatever series they are in when it not longer suits their commercial interests!

At last...
I'm over the moon, top of the world, head over heels, hell yeah!!!!
Bring on the new series, bye bye max and the midget.
Since the outrages of last few years I have not watched F1, and have been bemused by the results from this season.
F1 (or whatever they call the new series) now has a chance to return to what it should be, high pressure, cutting edge technology, with drama and passion, not the watered down, one size fits all tedium that the gnome and Mad Max sought to provide.
I only hope that it will return to "Formula" racing, drive what you bring, with teams allowed to race whatever configuration they decide is best and NO restrictions on aerodynamics.
F1 is dead, long live F1.. :clap::clap::clap::clap:

I would sure like Ron Dennis to come back to Macca.. Then who would have the last laugh... He is probably laughing now..

ACE!! I think Ron's had something to do with it anyway, but yes up yours max. Payback time. Very happy about this. Silverstone will have a great atmosphere!!!

I know I know! How bril is that!! And we get canada back and the US. I wonder how Gillet will get funding for Donnington now-he needs to stike a deal with the breakaway quick and secure the European round.

I hope FOTA wont leave out Australia.

I hope so too. Its a great season opener. I know its a long way but better than all those dessert tracks by loads!

Lola had their head screwed on didnt they!! I guess now they'll join the new one :) Shame about US racing(cant remember the name) They're now stuck in a feeder category-not what they signed up to! I wonder if the teams left in F1 can do breach of contract ?

This is great, bet max and bernie are shitting themselfs

well if they get some good tracks, can agree on regulations, and get a good bit of comercial income this can only benfit the sport and the teams.

FOTA need to get Lotus, Prodrive, Lola etc.. all in on their series lets call it GP1 for now.

Shame about Williams and Force inda tho, perhaps they can get out of the contract.

I still think there is going to be a compromise on this. FOTA have played a Royal Flush, either Max will have to eat humble pie and compromise hugely or then the un-thinkable will happen, 1 or 2 teams leaving F1 is palatable, but to have all 8 is doomsday stuff.
I take it all the sponsors have backed this move have they? It will be interesting to hear DC's and Eddie's comments later

So who will Bernie try to sue first?

His hairdresser I hope.
Tell you what would be superb, that would be Ron Dennis resigning from McLaren and becoming the new CEO of the breakaway series
