I think this season has been fantastic. Maybe that is just me though.

I think so too, its just the noobs complaining like this is the first boring F1 season ever.

Yeah, i guess we have to remember a lot of em only started watching when Hamilton started winning mid-2007. :hehe::twisted:

I'm with you two. Perhaps it's because I don't care who wins...I just want to see a race, but I'm very much enjoying this season. There is far more overtaking than in years past, or am I losing my mind? Where are such stats kept? The cars are running closer to each other through corners as well.

No, Hamilton is not winning...but that isn't the deciding factor for whether or not the season is a hit.

The reason that this season appears boring is simply due to the lack of action at the front.

But in fairness, although '07 and '08 had a lot of different winners, they didn't have a whole lot of action at the front either (only Spa '08 comes to mind).

I do think this engine freeze needs to end though, and the focus be returned to optimising engine performance, against aero and cornering. Maybe standard, weaker, brakes to extend breaking distance too.
Am I right in assuming that engines are generally cheaper to develop than aero too?

Whoever suggested that Hamilton had to be winning to make the season a hit?? he's only been here for 2and a half years!! Which ever driver had been in that title fight last season, last race, it was nail biting, wouldnt have mattered who it was. Wont happen this year because there is no competition...as yet. Things may change but i doubt it.

The season is predicable. Thats why it's no good. Lets be honest here. Button has won the WDC, and anyone who says otherwise is clearly naive. Red Bull may be able to take the fight next weekend at Silverstone. But Red Bull couldn't do it at turkey, there's little chance they'll do it anywhere. After silverstone we go to Germany, Hungary and Valencia. 3 tracks that will all again suit Brawn. The current rules mean that cars need to be good with fuel onboard to do well in quali, and they need to be good with the tyres to be able to manage the crap tyre. The Brawn is light-years ahead at those two things, and that's why they're untouchable right now.

Really, the Brawn only has one weak point, and thats the cars light fuel one lap pace. But it doesn't matter, because as long as they make it through to Q3 (which they always have done) It doesn't effect them at all.

Last year at this time, we had Kubica, Lewis, Massa and Kimi almost tied on points. The racing could've been crap, but we'd still enjoy the weekend, just to see what drivers could take advantage in the points.

It's not Button winning all the time that irks me. It's the fact that there's barely any challenge for him right now. Barcelona, Turkey, and Monaco Button were all walk overs. The first 4 races were good though. Australia was madness as per usual. Malaysia we had Rosberg leading, before the race became unpredictable and rather exciting. China was a good race with plently action, great drives and spinners. Even Bahrain wasn't too bad. Its just lately the racing has been processional. But hopefully we'll see some excitement soon.

My aging memory may be faulty here, but was there not a time when Hamilton was up by 20 points and seemed to have it in the bag easily...but then he beached his car in the pit lane and screwed the pooch on the next race and just like that it was a nail biter? So, in order for this season to be as competitive as the last couple...all we need is for Button to make a few Hamilton type mistakes. Maybe rear end Vettel in the pit lane or something cool like that. It could happen. Brawn could pull a Ferrari fuel hose debacle or two, or Button could stuff up a backmarker while lapping him. The season has lots of racing left to go.

As to Button not being challenge...were you watching today? Vettel caught him, and was all over him. The team made a strategy decision that didn't work...but Button is not leaving everyone in the dust to get the points he has been getting. He is simply not making mistakes....so he wins.

Yes your memory is failing you because i was clearly talking about last year not Hamilton's rookie year.

Yes I watching today. Vettel caught Button but did sweet FA when he got there, even if he had got past it wouldnt have mattered, were you unaware of the different strategies they were on? Button could have pulled over and waved him by and still won the race. That was no challenge!!

Im not a noob and while i think this season has been interesting for various reasons i haven't found it particularly exciting. Few overtaking moves in anger, results becoming predictable, No 2 or 3 cars of similar ability slugging it out at the front. Interesting but not exciting.

What i was getting at was the fact that the last 2 seasons have been especially close and climactical... we seemed to get more wet races than normal in the last 2 seasons too.

Do you ever stop going on about Hamilton?

The Thread is about 2009 not 07 or 08

i think its jealously that your only able to race on your xbox or ps3 and you really want to be a racing driver but can't beacuse you ate too many cheese burgers.
