This is the annoying thing about F1, you get Kovalainen in the best car and he still only wins because it is handed to him, yet there are far, far superior drivers like Webber (hopefully not much longer though) and Heidfeld who never get a chance.

Would've been nice to see Nick in a McLaren, although I'm not as sure as I was maybe five or six years ago. When BMW Sauber get their act together (and I'm pretty sure this season will be an anomaly) he will win some races provided he stays there and I can't see any reason for him to go. And after last season, with people moaning that he wasn't good enough because he was out-performed by Kubica (though eventually finished only fifteen points behind in a car that was not suited to his style at all), he must be feeling pretty good about having performed better than him so far this year. He just needs to get some better qualifying results.

Yes Im pleased for Nick. Hope he ends the season ahead of Kubica. I rated Kubica, still do, but not so highly now and not keen on him.

HHmmm generally yes Id agree with that but its a tricky one. Didnt he partner Kimi way back? And wasnt he faster and therefore a little peeved when McLaren took Kimi for the drive and not him? Im not positive here, might be remembering wrong. Maybe McLaren saw more potential in kimi.

But that said he's a nice guy so Id just like him to beat Kubica,who Ive gone off.

He wasn't faster, he just did a better job over the whole season in terms of finishing races and not making mistakes and was rightly peeved with McLaren especially after they had put him through the West F3000 team and had him test for them. Nick was pretty much thought to be under contract to McLaren. With regards to 2001, it must be remembered that Kimi was one of the least experienced drivers to ever get a full race seat in the history of F1 and he did demonstrate an occasional turn of speed which was significantly in excess of Nick's average level.

ie minus the best car in 4 seasons!

Prost never had that much outright pace imo, and racecraft? That is a broad term, consistency is just one of Heidfeld's traits that could be bundled under that umbrella.

edit: Just to expand, while i think Prost was overrated, i'm not saying Heidfeld is as good as he was, just pointing out what i think are similarities between the two.
