Ooh now that's tricky. It's hard to think of one that was downright awful but the 2002 EA effort springs to mind. Also, I remember one from about 1997 or maybe 1998 in which the cars didn't do more than 145 mph...which was somewhat inaccurate...

That does sound pretty woeful. I've always thought that If it's not made primarily for PC, then it's not worth a look. A decent steering wheel is also a must. if it can be done with a gamepad, it simply isn't difficult enough! As a side note, Forza Motorsports 2 on XBox 360 feels promising enough with a controller, feels like it might be quite a satisfying sim with a wheel...

I actually don't like the wheels, i find the way you turn them is nothing like what you actually do if you were racing an actual car. Of course i have always had the crappy wheel controllers.

I believe there is a racing wheel controller for the 360 & that Forza Motorsport 1 and 2 support it.

The problem is fixing the wheel to something. The x box is in the living room and the wheel would have to be between my knees which is no good. What do you use? On GPL, I used to find a joystick was pretty good for steering with a set of pedals for go and stop

I prefer the control pad over everything, specially the 360 pad for both pc & xbox. The trigger buttons give you great control over braking & acceleration pressures.

The keyboard would be ok for GP4 if they had programmed the driving aid not to force you to take the most ridiculous racing line in places...

I find with the triggers, I need one hand dedicated to accelerating and braking and one entirely to steering. I can't get my head round braking and steering with the same hand, so I change the buttons to ye olde Playstation configuration.

the teams should market their simulators... no need for a joystick with those babies :D

That would be sweet!
