Trust me, I know what you are getting at, there are places I wouldn't go anywhere near at night in Glasgow, but most of the City is great and its full of very nice people.

Yeh i drove though the east side of glasgow to take a "look" on the way to Edinbuough was basicly just dodgey.

But yeh apart from the chav's doing f***ing burnouts until 00:00 when i had been working until 22:00 it was alright.

You get that hear in Australia with some of the V8 Supercar fans. they say F1 isnt real racing either!

Don't think F1 not having a big following is due to the strategic effort it takes to understand it... Could a sport be any more complicated than american football?? Definitely F1 could do with a few more cars on the grid, and some fewer DNF's. But the rest has to be marketing. There has to be a stronger marketing effort...

This is not such an easy task, because F1 will never be pure bred american, like the Whopper. After all, they are the ones who use World Champion / World Series for sports and leagues that only americans are involved so its kinda an uphill battle...

Maybe with a good venue and an US team... I dont personally support the idea of 'national' teams, but if that's what it takes to make america interested and fill he void, then so be it. So, lets hope it succeeds.

That is true, the small brewers know how to do it. there is nothing wrong with being a redneck and liking full contact racing. I love every kind of racing. An avid fan of F1 and stock car racing. You can't get any better driving than F1, nor is anything as close to being that high-tech. There is also nothing like full contact racing at 200mph like in Nascar. There are people that think that F1 isn't real racing, and those guys are off their rocker. And then there are people who think Nascar isn't real racing. Although it takes more time to appreciate it, Nascar is racing.

Sorry I have to disagree with you about NASCAR taking time to appreciate, NASCAR has broken racing down to a form of entertainment rather than a race, Most their tracks are designed so everyone has a good view, a couple of them are so small I bet a Shifter Kart could lap 3 or 4 seconds faster. The organizers don't like it if there's a dominant team, and they tend to throw yellow flags out to bunch up the cars even when there is a minor incident on the track. I do believe some races even have a mandatory yellow flags at the end of the race just to make the last laps more exciting. Most people who watch NASCAR couldn't care less about "Racing" and are more interested in seeing good wrecks. The majority of NASCAR "Fans" I've ever talked to can't even explain the points system and don't truly know who gets points for doing what during a race. (ie. most laps led, fastest pit stops, nicest paint job, best qualifying.) I can understand you may like to watch them go around in circles and I'll admit being next to the track on a Super speedway is pretty cool for the first 1/2 an hour, but it's really more a form of entertainment than it is an actual race.

You know I am not easily swayed, but you make very good points. I have been to many NASCAR races and do find myself not paying attention for a good chunk of the race. And I do agree that most fans are just fans of the company on the car and want to see wrecks. One thing I hate about NASCAR is how people see a wreck and say something like "that was awesome." I do believe that more percentage of F1 fans know what racing is about then NASCAR. I guess when I am defending NASCAR, I really defending the small tracks around our country that still have grassroots racing, with no money involved. Just hobby.

i stayed over last week in or around the city center on a Wednesday night all i could hear was chav's doing burnouts a f***ing nova outside my hotel room.

i opened the window and said "You there! you hooligans i say its 11pm at night want to keep the noise down old boy and stay away from my car i've just had it valted what?"

and the little to-rag said "get t'f*** you bar steward" took a drink of his irn bru" and spat on my car can you belive that?

I would have told that POS to wait right there and I will be right down so we could discuss the situation more thoroughly. That kinda disrespect gets me steaming to no end.

Why do you suppose there are American football and basketball leagues all over Europe? Or why do you suppose the Japanese and Koreans are becoming better than we are at Baseball? (these are rhetorical questions and don't require an answer ) People like all kinds of sport all over the world.
