Surely there is no driver in BTCC apart from Giovanardi who knows how to overtake without shoving the guy in front off the track!? I have been watching BTCC for many years and it has always struck me as a kind of club for the Nakajimas of this world

Think Nakajima could go to the BTCC and make Toyota enter it ? :hehe:

Touring Car racing has always been about rubbing in the UK, though when you think about it. Giovanardi adds a touch of continental class, like Muller did and Menu during his time.
Countless more - but those times may end now, especially if there is no Manufacturers next year...

Yar, BTCC and WRC seem to be heading into the twilight zone of irrelevance. No manufacturers, not money, no importance. For me the writing has been on the wall for the BTCC for some time now...

I was going to post an article on the WRC, I think Loeb's dominance is worse than anything Schumacher had in F1 (for example)
There is nobody of his level and it is killing WORLD RALLY. Factoring in the fact that the FIA are hell bent on ruining the regulations.

As for the BTCC, It will probably live on, but possibly in a privateer capacity only.

My problem with (mostly) the WRC and the BTCC is the cars ware too slow and easy to drive. I noticed in the race of champions that Loeb struggled with some of the more difficult cars an I couldn't help wondering if Loeb had to drive some Group B machinery, would he be as successful. For me, his achievements are undermined by the fact that he has been driving underpowered, easy to drive cars when his predecessors like Vatanen and Walter Rohl had to drive much more difficult cars over much more difficult stages.

He's very against the S2000 rules isn't he? I wonder if he is scared about have some weaknesses exposed?

We'll need to see how he does in sports cars.

I'd like to see him move to sportscars because i believe he is a genuine talent (not quite as good as Rohl, Vatanen, Toivonen) and I don't want to see him languish in a declining series.

BTW, we seem to be pwning the threads atm! does no-one stay up!? Race day clearly takes it out of the folks

I was really pleased to see Mat Jackson back in the action this week. Having done so well last year, I was really surprised to see he wasn't at the first meet.

Ginetta races had me cringing. I think the Ginetta parts department are going to be busy this week! Have to admit I'm tempted to get a G50 as my second car ;)

Be careful, those things looked almost as flimsy as a TVR. :hehe:

Slightly off-topic. Don't suppose anyone saw the Le Mans Series @ Spa-Francorchamps last weekend did they? More crashes and Safety Cars than a BTCC race :hehe: Really strange to see so many F1-linked names racing (including a spectacular crash by one of them ;) ). Definitely worth watching the highlights if you can find them!

Nope, but did the Audis and Peugeots run there? They're racing at Silverstone in September - very tempting. Another good thing about endurance races is that you can walk around and see the cars race from all points of the track... maybe not in Spa though! :P

SPEED TV may run it after the season has ended :irked: ! The only good thing about SPEED is F1, ALMS and the SCCA Touring Car events.
