I agree, although Raikkonen shades everyone on raw speed, he isn't rounded enough to be considered the best in the field. Alonso isn't far behind on one lap pace, and well he is the more developed driver.

That's exactly my assessment too. I've seen a bunch of people rating Vettel in there, but I'm yet to see it.

I think the best driver over a single lap would be Jarno, i dont know where he finds the lap times from in Qualifying that he cant reproduce during a race. I use to hold Kimi in high regard but last year i just couldn't believe how bad things went for him. I'm an Alonso fan so obviously so obviously he gets my vote as best overall driver in the field at the min but Vettel sure as hell could give Alonso a run for his money.

For sure, on a qualifying style do-or-die one-lap, Jarno has a lot of speed. But on a racing lap, Kimi is streets ahead, and Alonso close behind him.

Fisi really bottled it in that race. Surely he had more pace in the car than that! I think if you've tried your nuts off to get from 18th to 2nd by that point in the race and you're faster than the guy in front, and you've caught him with one or two laps to go, you're going to get past even if it means DEATH

Gee.. Can't imagine how it felt for Alonso when he was stuck in the car under the sweltering heat with no water! :yikes:
Cheers to him for hanging on till the end of the race!

Were talking more in the sense of pure driver skill & ability rather than the cars they currently race in.

I can't actually see Alonso at Ferrari, but whatever will be, will be.

I like Alonso at Renault, He seems to work well with Flav, and no one else does. I think he's a great driver But Im not sure if he'd do well at Ferrari right now, and I don't think Ferrari will pull out of their current down swing to quickly.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y7iCsgBiji0 a handshake :P

Also reports have basically confirmed Santander is off to Ferrari, their boss was spotted going into the Ferrari Factory.

I don't think its a question of is Alonso going to Ferrari anymore, its more who is gonna get the boot to let him in.
