Damn you are an 'old schooler' ! Although I did not start watching F1 until the very late '70's or early '80's I alway's had an immense respect for Rob Walker, a true gentleman he was in my opinion.

I have no idea what my first race was... I was probably at one race or another while still in my mum's belly XD Then there's photos of me when I'm about 2 going round Snetterton on a plastic scooter thing. The first race I remember is a British Touring Cars race at Snetterton, but I couldn't tell you what year it was...
My first GP... will be next year! OMG so excited

1st GP I attended? Silverstone 1965 at the age of 1 month & 2 days but that possibly doesn't count.

So Brands Hatch, sometime in the 80's - the 1 that was Laffitte's last race as he broke his legs. 82,83?

Oh man I remember watching, and recording , that race on ESPN and I was devistated to hear it was Jacques career ending injury .

yep...when rob walker stopped being an F1 owner, the world of F1 lost a true gentleman, drivers did'nt need contracts with rob, his word was his bond. all change now though

My first race was in the 60s and was with the MG car club at Brands Hatch where I took second place in a P type behind Geof Coles in his supercharged J4.

Sorry...the title of the thread was ambiguous. The first GP I saw was at Boreham, near Chelmsford in the early '50s. Watched the greats drive their race cars of the public roads too!

I went to a British GP when I was really young, possibly 1989 or something. The First one I remember was 1993 European Grand Prix at Donnington but I didn't really know what was going on!

Melbourne 2006. We rented a balcony room on St Kilda road and lived it up for the weekend. Have to do it again some day.

Can't remember what year I first watched a televised race but I know I Gerhard Berger was racing...87? Most memorable moment was being woken up for school by my mother one morning, she came into my room and casually opened up my curtains and then told me in a matter-of-fact manner that Senna had died.

Adelaide from 1985-95 (watched them all). I was even fortunate enough to live on the track (Flinder's Street East) for the 1989 and 1990 races. Since 1995, I haven't seen a live F1 race since...

I remember my Dad being shocked when watching the news of Jimmy Clark's death at Hockenheim in 1968 when I was 5, and catching various races he was watching on TV - Jack Brabham going off at the last corner at Monaco in 1970, Jo Siffert being killed at Brands in 1971, and Jackie Stewart winning Monaco in 1973.

I myself got hooked in 1975 and started following avidly in South Africa where Jody Scheckter won in a Tyrrell. The next race that was to be televised was the Race of Champions which was won majestically by Tom Price in the fabulous UOP Shadow DN5. I made it to Silverstone to see the GP there and saw many of the cars spin off (Regazzoni in a Ferrari in front of me - excellent, I have never liked them). I went to every GP from then on until 1994, since when I have not been back. Missed Johnny Herbert winning in 1995 which is my only regret. However, with Lotus 'back' next year, I am sorely tempted to return.

This made me think quite a bit... I think it was the 1994 French Grand Prix. I'm certain I wasn't watching when Senna and Ratzenberger died. I had thought it was the British GP, but I distinctly remember Mansell driving a WIlliams in the first race I watched, so it was probably the French.

My head hurts now - too long ago!
