Some people here are quite funny. They think that a "trick" diffuser it's like an always-on KERS...You just put it on the car and it'll break the sound barrier.

I got news for these people: The diffuser is but a relatively small part of the whole aerodynamics design. If you plan to add one of these "new" diffusers, not only do you have to modify the rear structure of the car, but you must also look at the rest of the body design so that you end up with a balanced car. Which means, lots of man-hours in the design stage, and then you're screwed because your test day is...ta-daaaaa, race weekend!

So those of you who think that McLaren, Ferrari, or any of those teams will just slap one and go...I got bad news for ya.

I agree with you on that one.

I think I posted earlier that they would adapt it just now by changing the gearbox housing but I think they will have to redesign the whole aerodynamics of the car.
It will be interesting to se what they come up with as I think the adaptation will be a short term fix until the whole car is redesigned somewhere in the future .

I cant wait to see the next race where they use the adapation ....and they outcome will be Mclaren wins :)

I'm shattered having got up to watch the practice sessions. Anyway I've posted the timings on the Chinese G.P thread. Having watched P1 and Lewis up there with Jenson, I thought hey up, whatever they've put on his car is going to work, then bitterley disapointed at P2, I feel even more for Felipe. Anyway I'm sure Lewis ain't sandbagging :wink:

Wouldnt worry too much about it hes proved hes at the top so in P2 hes just out to feel out the track.Practice sessions dont mean a thing .The racde does.

Watching Friday practice the Brawn car look like they are on rails compared to some teams. Total aerodynamic balance of Brawn cars was an 18 month effort, a Lego diffuser snapped under rear of car will help some but won't get you any gold or silver.

MM and Lewis Hamilton will get it together. No, it isn't as simple as bolting a new diffuser to the car. When the MP4-24 is hooked up, watch out boys. Just get out of Hamilton's way. Practice is @2AM here in NYC on Speed. Lets see what happens.


I really hope McLaren, Ferrari, BMW and maybe even Red Bull up their game and we have a 5 way fight for the title this year.

I would cream myself just thinking of the battles in races...

Right, but real mecano, so the instructions have deliberate mistakes and you have to correct them. Let's see which of the protesting teams are smart enough to spot and correct those mistakes :thumbup:

What do you all reckon then.
Once Mclaren have developed the technology in this diffuser this should be enough for Lewis to take advantage and zoom past the rest putting him back at the top where he belongs :clap:

No offence meant but do you read any of my posts? especially the ones regarding how it won't be as simple as putting a new diffuser on the back of the car and it will shoot to the front!

Take a step back and a deep breath of reality ok because you are no prince either :wink: ? We all have own perception/opinion of things yet if you are constantly going to get pissed why do you even bother???

NH: It is the whole package. It would be too easy to say ‘put a perfect diffuser on a car and then you are there.’ It’s not that easy, it’s the whole package, but I think we all have to realise is that this car was built over a very long period of time. Other people were still fighting for the current World Championship. This is not an excuse but it should be an explanation and the sooner you could concentrate on this year’s car, the more you could invest in it aerodynamically and so on. These guys did a good job. I think they had really good equipment, good people and it’s the whole package at the end of the day.

What makes this statement great is the fact that he refering to Ross Brawn. Thats the brains right there. thats why ferrari is so screwed as well. You let a guy like that go - you cutting down all your defences..... Ok I agree with you now ... He made schumi as well .... the latter ?? .a dumbo putting kimi on wets to prove it. !!
