He's one of those people who thinks the only reason Brawn GP is competitive is because of the misfortune of others, and not because they did a better job than others.

I hope the Brawn diffuser is banned next week. Then we'll see just how much better than the other teams Brawn are this year as they still lead the way.

Alternatively, let them all have them.

We'll still wipe the floor with them all. There's a reason we're quicker than Toyota

Brawn GP today announced a new three-year partnership with successful foreign exchange trading company, MIG Investments.

Based in Neuchâtel, Switzerland, MIG Investments is a leading Swiss Forex broker founded and managed by the Mansour family and branding will appear from today on the front wing and nose of Brawn GP's championship-leading BGP 001 car.

The MIG Investments logo will feature on the racesuits of drivers Jenson Button and Rubens Barrichello, and on the overalls of the Brawn GP race team, from the Spanish Grand Prix in May.

Ross Brawn, Team Principal
"We are delighted to welcome MIG Investments to Formula One and to the Brawn GP team. Our team has had a great start to the 2009 Formula One season and we are very pleased to have secured our third new partnership. In a difficult economic climate, it is a positive sign that the appeal of Formula One continues to attract new companies to invest in our sport.
We look forward to working closely with MIG Investments to help drive global awareness of their brand through the powerful communications platform of Formula One."

Hisham Mansour, MIG Investments CEO
"We are extremely proud to be joining ranks with Formula One's newest sensation, the Brawn GP team. This collaboration marks an important synergy between two young, innovative and ambitious teams, both leaders in our respective fields. We share parallel formulas for success and believe strongly in the power of innovation, teamwork and dedication. Our partnership with Brawn GP is further testimony to our strong industry position and confidence. We look forward to a fruitful and rewarding relationship together."

Swiss quality to partner Brawn GP :)
Now how would that play out if Virgin indeed gets that rumored (or confirmed yet?) exclusive rights contract where they themselves sell ad space on the car (similar to Marlboro at Ferrari)?

The deal would be for specific areas of the car and Virgin would then sell those areas itself, leaving Brawn with spots for existing sponsors like MIG and Henri Lloyd.

F1live:
Honda is "frustrated" to have abandoned Formula One on the eve of almost guaranteed success, new team owner Ross Brawn insists.

The Briton is now leading the Brackley-based camp following a management buyout, having bought it from the struggling Honda Motor Co. for a symbolic 1 British pound.

"I'm sure they were very frustrated at having to withdraw," Brawn, 54, told the Bloomberg news agency.

"I've had many notes from senior people at Honda, so they are frustrated because obviously the team has moved forward, but it was a necessity for their business."

The team netted embarrassing results in the last two years, but during 2008 invested millions of Honda dollars setting the groundwork for the current BGP 001 chassis.

With Mercedes power, the 'Brawn GP' car collected both poles and both wins from the opening two Grand Prix of 2009.

F1 chief executive Bernie Ecclestone is surprised the Japanese manufacturer did not realise it had overseen the design of a winning car before pulling out.

"They'd spent an awful lot of money, hadn't gotten anywhere and probably didn't realise the potential," he said last weekend in Malaysia.

"I'm sure if they had, they wouldn't have gone because all this would have been Honda otherwise."

A Honda spokeswoman declined to comment.

:P:P:P:whip:

The rage Honda must be experiencing is indescribable, however it highlights how disconnected upper management must have been to the people that matter on the ground.

Do not discount that Brawn may have sandbagged to take the glory for himself, that would have been a brilliant idea...

There goes that idea, they have probably sold Virgin title sponsor and now selling off the rest of the car. Virgin pocketing £50M just sounds ridiculous, nothing stopping Brawn from doing that himself and keeping more for the team...

I imagine it was another example of how running an F1 team by committee can only result in failure. It's easy to come to the conclusion that if Honda were running the team this season, they would be having the same success but over the whole season i think Brawn will benefit from not having to deal with corporate interference from a parent company. Ross left to it is all you need to get success in F1!

I think, only as much as needed :hehe: , that you are right. There were too many corporate hands in the mix with Honda.

Yep and I've really enjoyed how F1 seems to have been handed back to the designers. I was thinking to myself during the end of the Australian race how it's no coincidence that P1-P4 had cars from two of the best designers in the pitlane, Adrian Newey and Ross Brawn.

Back are the days when a good F1 designer can sit down with a blank sheed of paper and think up a new design in it's entirety, it's a black art again, a little bit of romance is back in F1...

Incidentally, the blank sheet of paper bit is completely true for Newey: he still uses exclusively paper drawings, he doesn't even own a puter. After he's done, he hands the drawings to a CAD person to feed them into the puter.

Thats exactly why I wrote that statement, because I was thinking of him still working with paper, I just couldn't remember the name of that large stencil paper he uses. :)

I think Honda's withdrawal had nothing to do with the financial crisis, they just got tired of losing and saw the opportunity to pull out. IMO

yeah well they pulled out prematurely and are left to clean up the love muck while the Virgin Brawn combo reaches climax!
Are we still talking about racing
