F1live:
Brawn GP has now agreed a major sponsorship deal with the Virgin Group for 2010, SportsPro magazine reported on Thursday. The arrangement for 2009 is set to stay the same, at $250,000 per race.

In Malaysia, the BGP 001 cars are featuring the same Virgin branding as in Melbourne a week ago, while team clothing and driver overalls remain unbranded.

In 2010, however, the sponsorship will ramp up to $30 million for the one-year contract, giving Virgin the right to sell space on the cars to additional sponsors.

The deal resembles Ferrari's Marlboro backing, where the brand has exclusive rights to the livery and the right to offset the contract price by selling space to additional sponsors.

An insider said: "If it (Virgin) gets $80 million, which it might, Virgin will keep $50 million, it's a good deal."

The team has yet to confirm any such deal.

Nice deal for Virgin (probably coming ahead out of it), and a nice security blanket for Brawn.
Now get some Emirates money - hey, wasn't it 72 virgins they'd get if they die as martyrs? Well, I'd say one virgin on the car is better than 72 in paradise w/o any guarantee that they actually are there :P:twisted:

Great news I expected this to happen very soon after last weeks results. Ross can now get a good nights sleep! :cloud9:

it is a good deal, but you could also say that Brawn is missing out on 50 mil!

However I am sure that the Brawn boys know what they are doing. Plus it means that they don't have to worry about going door to door to get more sponsorship

Branson is a a clever guy. As soon as it becomes clear Brawn will clean up in Australia, he's got his company's logo on their cars. When it becomes clear Brawn are serious title contenders, he signs a longer-term deal with the team. I like Branson. He's got some great ideas, so it's good to see him involved with Formula One.

Huzzah! Financial Security! I fell like I'm supporting the exact opposite of someone with money in a major international bank!

Take that ING!

Branson mentioned in passing that he was hoping to supply (greener) fuel to F1 in the future....so this is a nice foot in the door for him. And if it does all go ahead, I'm sure partnering with Virgin will do Brawn GP no harm ;)

I remember early last year someone telling me that the Honda's where using diesel fuel and that is why they where so slow. Does that mean Brawn might get extra virgin olive oil?!?

Diesel, you were highly misled my friend.

Diesel is a fuel. Honda's 08 engine ran on recycled bicycle clips.

Button was wearing a Henri Lloyd cap after the aus race, dunno about the rest of his attire though.

I hope Brawn put a performance clause in this contract 250k a race isn't much for a team that may win half of the seasons races something like for every point you get 100k or 1 mil for every first place! It was estimated that Virgin got £8 Mil worth of advertising last weekend and they paid 250k for it :S

They mean "devoid of sponsor logos" (As in, no Virgin logo) by "unbranded"
