Edit: And stop calling him "the gaffer", it makes him sound like the manager of a building site, with Lewis some lowly employee.

He was the gaffer, boss, team manager, call it what you you like. At the end of the day he was the man in charge. He made that fateful decision and has paid the price, very sad but true. Have you read of any denials by him, can you post any links to interviews of his outrageous treatment by McLaren, no of course you can't because you cannot defend the indefensible, at least Hamilton had the balls to sit alone in front of scores of camera's and apologise. He's been pillored, insulted and his reputation called into serious question, disqualified, just what further punishment would you like him to receive?

Well, I'm pretty sure that he would have received a pay-off from McLaren, so he wouldn't say a thing.[/quote]

Thats a very poor response to my question, so I'll ask again, despite all Hamilton has had to endure (Through his and others doing), just what further punishment do you feel he should receive

It was not a response to your question in any way, it was a response to what you wrote prior to your question. The further punishment that I'd like Hamilton to receive? I'd go for suspension. It's definitely what would be on the cards if I was in charge.

The least Lewis and McLaren could do is not be so gutless as to act as if Lewis is as pure as fresh driven snow.

Who has said he is as pure as the driven snow, he ain't, he's also in the wrong, I have said it over and over and over again. do yourself a favour and change the record

We've all said it over and over again. Some folk dont want to hear.

Well thank christ you have now't to do with F1 other than someone sat behind the comfort of his computer with a glass of strong cider in their hands posting shyte on an internet forum. Take your beer goggles off, there's more going on than kicking McLaren and Hamilton

Thank you for, once again, proving to have absolutely no idea. I think you'll find that I will 'kick' anybody who is in the wrong, because it is deserved. I have nothing against any driver that makes me want to just take digs at them whatsoever. But when they're in the wrong, then I'll give my opinion on it (also note that, if you had been around longer and paid significant attention, you'd be able to see this - you should up your qualification to speak before you open your mouth).

Look at it this way. If you were in charge of the production team at McSteelies and the senior production operative was stealing and selling steel from you. One of the junior production operatives found out, but the senior operative told him to keep quiet and he'd cut him a slice of the profits. You suspect something and question them. They both lie. However, one of the other junior production operatives finds out and comes to you with proof. You call the two thieves in and question them further, where they go on to reveal all details - do you sack both, just the senior operative or just the junior operative?

Thats very simplistic. Far more involved here.

Instead of making a statement, perhaps it would be more appropriate to explain ;)

At the end of the day, the base-scenario is the same. Junior operative B is the equivalent of the media guy who interviewed Lewis straight after the race.

Not once have you explained the difference between the McLaren situation and the hypothetical 'McSteelies' situation that I posted. If you're going to attempt to nullify my point, the least you could do is offer an explanation for why you think that way.

Ive explained time an again why McLaren "parted company" with Ryan and kept Lewis. F1 is big business and Lewis is a more valuable asset than Ryan. Sounds cold and calculating doesnt it. Look at the players in this game of F1. People like Bernie, people like Max. Acting like your dealing with a class of naughty children will get you nowhere. Its a big boys game. Now thats assuming you pressume 50/50 guilt on the two of them. Ryan had to take the rap. Not everyone see it as 50/50 guilt.

So the guys who slave away into all hours back home at the Woking factory aren't as important? What about his engineers over the race weekend? Heck what about his rear jack man? Are none of these guys as important, because from where i'm standing Hamilton wouldn't have the machinery to race.
F1 isn't about individuals.

Even if it is 50/50 Both sides need to take the blame.

Unfortunately (and I really mean it), the real business world is very, very far away from idealism. And yes, that includes McLaren, Ferrari, Brawn GP, and all the other teams. Anyone who has a job in a corporation can see that. And though you know some things are just wrong, you learn and recognize that's the way the cookie crumbles.
