Well, what immediately springs to mind is:

    i. a proper apology in which Hamilton accepts his fair share of the blame for lying;
    ii. some form of internal discipline at McLaren (race ban, fine etc.); and
    iii. for the FIA to fully investigate Hamilton's actions.

That sounds pretty reasonable, although the 3rd point is somewhat open-ended, and maybe that's the one who should be done before the 2nd point.

I know. It's just the gist of things that I get from most forum members.

most forum members agree that McLaren made a bad decision. Most forum members agree Hamilton is apart of that bad decision. Most forum members dont like him getting off while the rest of the team Heikki included could/will take the fall.

Well, Whitmarsh didn't think an FIA investigation was necessary before suspending and then axing Ryan, and bringing his own future at the team into doubt.

Mm hmm. And such a thing would be wrong. I can't see why anybody other than Anthony Hamilton would think it okay.

Firing Ryan was a (very bad) knee-jerk reaction.

No, it was an attempt to deflect the blame from Hamilton and any other team-members.

I have a feeling some people will never be happy unless he's banned from Formula 1 for ever. :hehe:

No, I dislike him but find him a nice guy that is too big for his own boots. But he is successful never the less. No I wouldn't like to see him go, he's an ace driver that brings a little excitement into the game. I think maybe a race ban is suitable and let Gary.P take over or De La Rossa for a race and see how that shakes down, otherwise I think they should drop it and leave it out. It's been dealt with. Otherwise they are taking it too far! And will spoil the sport? He made mistake like allot of humans do. Just a shame there reputation has been darkened by this.

Firing Ryan was completely unnecessary, in my view. Suspending him pending McLaren's internal investigation and the FIA's kangaroo trial was more than adequate to deflect the blame from Hamilton and demonstrate the team were taking suitable action. Bearing this in mind, and that this kind of thing has gone on since day zero in Formula One, Whitmarsh's sacrifice of Ryan should be treated with nothing other than contempt and disgust. :thumbdown:

Ryan should have only been suspended and Hamilton should have had a suspended race ban in the first place, with the race result simply being 'reset' to Trulli 3rd Hamilton 4th, simple as that. It would have saved a lot of hassle and disrepute for many people.
