I'm guessing its not off the ball... it appears they lost it and still looking for that ball. I am really messed up with they way they carrying on. dumb choice after stupid ones. Why dont they ask ones of the parking attendats for some advice. This really pissing me I tell you !!

There is a very fine line between brave and stupid choices. Perhaps they aren't as good as weighing up possibilities as they were with Brawn, Todt, and others on board. But they're still looking for the "inspired" moves and gaining advantages with surprise strategies as they used to do. Perhaps they feel that they need to find these advantages to make up for their car disadvantages, and aren't being careful enough to consider the underlying probabilities. While McLaren are being more conservative, and are happy to tool around picking up midfield points when others drop out.

Though, McLaren's actions in lying to the stewards could be an expression of desperation too. In that they've gone for a high risk strategy, just to get a single point.

If McLaren and Ferrari are getting a bit frantic, and ragged, in the search for points, I'd guess this means that they don't expect to be catching up to the front runners any time soon. And therefore are very worried about other teams (namely Brawn) getting too much of an advantage.

McLaren arent frantic. They were just stupid. They had 6 or 5 points secured in race 1 and didnt need those antics.Their problem is aero and by all accounts easily fixable once diagnosed , unti then, just too slow. Look to Spain.

If they aren't frantic, then why did they do such a stupid thing? Especially since everyone tells us that this is completely out of character fro DR and LH?

No idea! They were trying to hang on to 3rd which they thought theyd given up when they shouldnt have. I can kind of understand how that might have felt but no excuse .

It certainly is great to see Button and Barrichello doing well after a long time, more so Barrichello, he seems to be lingering on to prove a point. I just hope Barrichello can clinch this season.

Button is leading the way this year though.

His usual spot being what? He's been at the front, in the middle and at the back depending on the car, usually spending about 2-3 years in each at a time.

I was not trying to cause a riot, merely cracking a joke, however if you want to get into the details:

2000:8th
2001:17th
2002:7th
2003:9th
2004:3rd
2005:9th
2006:6th
2007:15th
2008:18th

So somewhere in 10th place (average). Those last two seasons really did him over...

Yes...car problems, I do not deny that he has been unfortunate many a time in his dealings with the cars, but Nigel Mansell has also stated I read just a few hours ago that he has had many opportunities that he let slide, well thankfully for once he has capitalized on something 9 years into his career.

Are we seriously attaching value to Nigel Mansell's armchair grumblings now?

If it's true, why not? I don't see why he would make false statements about Button not seizing opportunities, let's validate the content, rather than flagellate at who's propagating it.

In either case, I'm off. It's nearly 3 am in Sydney.

Adios.
