You know you're the class of the field when:

Your immediate competitors' fans accuse you of cheating.

And, rather foolishly, the opposition thinks it's only down to one thing on the car; i.e. the diffuser. It reminds of me of the debacle about McLaren's braking system in 1998. Ferrari were of the view that it was the only thing making the MP4-13 faster than the F300. Unfortunately for them, it wasn't.

Yep, same deal's happened to Benetton, Ferrari, McLaren, Williams - every team that's ever been the true pacesetter.

As for 1998, Ferrari probably should have protested at the fact that Mr. Newey seemed to have constructed the McLaren car out of paper. It was as beautiful as a piece of origami, and just as easy to damage.

The MP4-14 was even worse. He designed this wonderful new suspension system. Aesthetically, it's one of the nicest suspension systems I've seen. But it took twice as long for the mechanics to assemble it. Repairing it was even worse, because it was surrounded by bodywork and engine parts etc. And, of course, if you went over a kerb too hard, it was broken. Nothing will ever come close to the MP4-18, though...

The best looking Formula One car in history. And the only thing it's good for is sitting on a display stand.

I think that, without Patrick Head, Adrian Newey is too much of a liability. He designs some spectacular cars with immense speed, but also immense fragility. The RB4 is another spectacular example of it - all it did was bounce over a kerb here in Malaysia and it shattered itself.

My thoughts exactly on Newey. He's a great innovator, but he needs a solid, nut-and-bolts engineer like Head alongside with him, keeping his maverick tendencies in check. Newey must have thought he hit the jackpot when he came to McLaren, as he was allowed complete control over the the cars' designs.

I am totally agree, it's imposible so differences with the others cars, i don't believe in magic device, maybe in the 3rd race we will know the true about this car.

PD: Hamilton has a diesel car?

I don't think BGP are cheating or using any special devices they just have a very decent highly developed car out of the box. Makes the McLaren look like it came out of the stone age!!
